I hope our supporters are patient with this boy. There will be times this season when he doesn't make the right decision or has an off-game but this is definitely one we will get the benefit out of if we stick by him.

This wee guy is going to the top, he's got the lot. This is the most excited I've been for a youth player breaking through since McGeady.

I can't understand that logic at all. He's had quiet/poorer games obviously but his touch, technique, vision is on another level from any player we've had come through for years.

A lot of the ones that talk him down are the same that suggest we should be more like Ajax and Salzburg. I don't understand how we can become better at bringing through academy players without placing a bit more faith in them.

Between Dembele, Henderson, Okoflex we have a decent crop showing promise but for me Johnston is the one bursting with potential. Let's trust in him.

I think his end of season form and this preseason thus far has shown people like myself that there is more there than I initially thought.

I remember watching him in the qualifiers last year and just not seeing anything that gave me any kind of buzz.

Definitely needs time to develop but the most recent signs are incredibly positive.

He’s looked so good pre-season.. still think he’s a 10 rather than coming off the left.

But * loaning him, if he can just find that consistent end product, then we have a very special talent on our hands.

 

When I've seen him criticised its usually because insane greedyness at times. I dont know why so many players don't just play the ball when it makes sense. I love putting it on a plate for someone when playing myself. He does seem something special though.

 

Some of our fan's have done this for year's. Give it to our own kid's/player's out the academy..

McGeady got it. Forrest still had it till last season! Johnston has had it numerous time's already..

Is he a bit raw? Yes
Does he sometimes take the wrong option? Yep
Does he need to fill out more? 100%

But even his rawness....he's still ripping defender's to bits in the process. He's taken game's by the scruff of the neck plenty of time's already..

He can go both ways/low centre of gravity. Is extremely quick. Has an excellent touch. Beats men for fun. Has an end product. Has an abundance of confidence. Believes he should be in our side now..

It's time everyone started getting behind him instead of waiting to pounce on his first misplaced pass or wrong choice in the final third..

 

Very very impressive again tonight. Took the game by the scruff of the neck after we went behind and got his reward with a great goal. He’s a phenomenal talent and deserves the chance to nurture that here. I think he’s capable of having a big season.
