Personally I don't think there is hate he is a different player with us than he is on loan teams sit deep and play every game like a cup final when he went to Portugal and down south last season he was given the time and space and run of games to show exactly what his game is all about I have no doubt he will be a top player but clearly it wont be with us

No I don't. Rodgers played Johnston up front throughout pre-season and today was no different. He has said before he wants 3 strikers at the club. Two front line and a third as backup and Johnston would certainly be a good option IMHO as that third back up option.

Better to make some money on him whilst it’s a possibility after his West Brom loan put him in the English window. Give that third option to a promising youth or maeda if necessary

We usually only play 1 striker, or throw an extra one on when we're all over a side... I'd definitely agree to playing a youth player in 3rd spot for the experience, if we had 2 standout first choices

I would be fine with that if we actually did some recruiting. But right now we don't have 2 front line strikers. We also have no promising youth strikers who can be a third back up option give Vata is gone now. So for now it has to be Johnston until the club actually gets its recruitment right.

The big man should have stayed in Portugal, they wanted him, he was doing well, beautiful place, great weather and so on. But I have no hate for him and i don't like it when he's getting slated...plus he's an Irish player now so booyah! But I think for all concerned he should move on with our best wishes

Is Mikey Johnston okay after last week?

Yeah, he won't be available for the weekend. He'll rejoin the training group fairly soon. Yeah, a little problem with his eye socket up a deeper back in his face, but hopefully he'll be OK fairly soon.

    What's [Johnston's] situation this season?

I'm open at the moment in terms of where things are at, I gave Mikey his debut back and and when he was 18 and played him. So we've got a good relationship and we talk openly. I think he's at the stage where he'll probably want to play more. But he's worked hard over pre-season and put himself in a really good position. There are some clubs that have shown interest in him, but we'll see what happens over the next couple of weeks

Reading between the lines I think he will be away on loan by the end of the window. Best for all parties.

Burnley are lining up a move for Celtic winger Mikey Johnston before the close of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Johnston, 25, is back at Celtic after spending the second half of last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion.

The Republic of Ireland international impressed during his time in England, scoring seven goals in 20 games to help the Baggies reach the play-offs.

Burnley are in the market for a new winger having sold Wilson Odobert to Tottenham and Johnston figures highly on their wanted list.

The skilful attacker is likely to remain down the pecking order at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers this season and the Clarets are hoping to lure him to Turf Moor

Johnston has played 15 minutes for the Hoops this term and is under contract at Parkhead until June 2026.

He came through the Glasgow giants’ academy and has hit 13 goals in 93 appearances for his boyhood club

Give us O'Shea as part of the deal and you can have him

8-10 mill and Mikey for O'Shea would be ideal..

Don't care where he ends up. Must be a permanent transfer though with his age. All the best. Played his best football away from celtic tbh
