Many were saying exactly the same when Tierney was kicking about getting close to the first team, if you don’t try someone and give him a decent chance when he’s clearly a class player for his age then why even bother having a youth set up...totally agree...he did enough in the first half to suggest he could be an exciting addition to the team and at the moment we badly need freshening up so it’s well worth giving him a shot in my book

Aye he's inconsistent and was blowing out his * but this is how you learn. Big boy's football..

 

Big fan of him. He's always the best player on the pitch for the development team when he plays. Think tonight was by far his best performance for the senior squad. Looked confident and in the mood.

 

This is why I don't want too many loans from outside. Let's give our unproven players a chance. Mikey will learn the finer points of the game with time.

The fact he can go both ways with that low centre of gravity, makes him so unpredictable and a nightmare to defend against...particularly with his speed..

There was one instance after he set up the goal, the big defender looked to have ushered him out but his willingness and tenacity saw him get through the man and at the byline..

I'd like to see him in the 10 down the line. Looked excellent for the unders there also..

 

4 academy graduates in the starting 11 is fantastic.

* I wish one was a centre half.

MJ on his start to the season: "It’s been amazing. It’s been unexpected a bit going away pre-season. Just trying to work hard and get opportunities. I’ve been lucky.

MJ on Brendan Rodgers: "He’s improved me a lot as a player and gave me my opportunity so I’m really happy with how it’s going."

MJ on European start: "It was amazing, great experience. Playing with top players is unbelievable. I’ve not really done much, I’ve just made a start. It’s not much. I need to keep working hard and do my best to get opportunities."

MJ: "I look up to the people that have did the same thing as me (Academy Bhoys) and what they’ve achieved. It’s amazing to look up to people like that and have in the dressing room."

 

He's been a shining light in an otherwise bleak few weeks.

Can be extremely happy with himself, he was gutted not to get at least 1.

 

I'm very encouraged from what I've seen from him. Could be in the team for years to come ala James Forrest. What we need to do is play him on his natural side down the left, though.

 

He's pretty typical of a young winger.

Quick feet, a wee burst of pace and has the confidence to run at defenders. But he has also been guilty of losing possession cheaply, being wasteful in front of goal, getting muscled off the ball and sometimes trying to do too much on his own.

I like what I've seen.

 

He must start on Sunday. Biggest positive of the season, so far. Also, is he left-, or right-footed? I can't tell.
