He always has something dynamic about him but just never seemed to have the intelligence at the end of it all. Did score a few decent goals to be fair to him and always looks to do something but just doesn't do it frequently enough.

They were talking about how he should've went on loan....whilst I was of the same opinion..

How could he possibly play a run of game's with how * he is. He'd breakdown badly almost straight away..

I rated Mikey as one of the best prospects I've seen coming through our academy. He had everything for me to go to the top. I was always championing him like a blinkered da, because I believe in him that much..

He's done though. I don't think he'll carve out a career anywhere due to how flaky he is..

It's a shame because it isn't talent. Looks like he's a touch slower due to injuries. Lost all his confidence because of them. Harsh and happened to a lot of ballers but he has been gubbed for a long time now..

He definitely won't be here after the summer..

Has absolute zero end product and its some what ironic that the one time he actually created a chance for a teammate (offside or not) he got injured. Sums him up.
Rip up his contract, pay him off, release him, whatever. Needs punted at end of the season. Complete waste of space

I agree the injuries haven't helped but it's not just that. His vision and decision-making are frequently poor. He's not developed a sense for the game appropriate to the level we're at.

I agree with the overall conclusion, however. I can't see him making it here. He's lacking on too many fronts.

Why? He's not going to be on a big wage.

Shame and wish him the best.

Reading his contract runs to 2025. Would happily loan him out for a year next season and see how he performs, cant really have him taking minutes away from Doak and others.

Loan him out, give him a year somewhere to see if he can get a run and some form. We won't get anything if we sell him at the moment anyway

Aye, pretty much the same here even though at times I may have fell into the trap of thinking he may have been decent.

Nothing untowards against the lad, but he's not good enough to be a 1st teamer here and he's never gonna be fit enough to play regularly, so he needs to go ply his trade elsewhere - we need better!

We are just going round in circles with Johnston.

    Does he have talent? Absolutely.

But his weaknesses outweigh his strengths. He doesn’t have the physicality or application to be a top player for us.

Feel for him in terms of injuries. He can’t get any momentum going whatsoever.

We need to move him on.

Not sure what you’ve seen from him to suggest he’d 100% be first choice. The difference between him and Jota for example could be measured in lights years. Has never show anything remotely to back up your claim. Needs punted asap

He's never really had an extended run of games due to injuries, I honestly believe he has/had the talent to become first choice with us, but too often he gets an injury that takes him out before he can show any sort of form.

It's a moot point as it's too late now, hopefully he kicks on elsewhere

I feel sorry for the boy. All the negativity regarding his final pass, his decision making etc is because he has never managed to string much time between injuries and therefore his game hasn’t matured. The result of that is unless Celtic pay the vast majority of his wage, which I don’t think will be massive in the context of our players, nobody will be willing to take a gamble on a loan deal. Why would anyone take him knowing he’ll be on the treatment table 80% of the season? I really hoped he would make an impact but it looks like his body can’t handle full time football at this level.

Better players have been punted and think it's the end of the road for him and I think he knows it himself and maybe go to a club that's his level and sadly it's not Celtic .
