One of the most consistent players when fully fit. Hope he's back in the first team sooner than later.

Would have to be King of Kings, Henrik Larsson.

    I'm not picky.
Exactly what I was thinking. If anyone thinks we'll be in trouble if Lustig doesn't play against Sevco then they are definitely on something other than just the sauce. Matthews is more than capable of taking Lustigs place, especially against those bunch of nomarks.

    So frustrating.

We have two excellent right backs on form and fit, problem is they are rarely both of those things at the same time.

If I was Matthews I'd be on at RD to give him a proper go on the right wing. He's never going to force Lustig out the team long term.

If he could put a decent cross in, it would be an option but he can't.

Hopefully Ronny has him working quite intensively on that.

GlasgowBhoy, I think you have a different opinion on what our most important games over the next few months are from most on here. :smiley-laughing002:

Gutted he'll miss the last two EL games where his loss might be vital. Absolutely gutted. Nothing like European football after Christmas to (as Tommy Burns once said) keep you warm over the winter.

Losing Lustig is a huge blow and it will require some working out. Darnell Fisher hasn't been on the pitch for the first team. Matthews can either sit in defense or look to overlap and it's gonna depend on the opposition.

So those two can offer pace, whereas Ambrose can be a liability. He does however have a height advantage for defending set plays.

THen thier is the option of sacrificing McGregor in Europe. I'm saying that because his weakness is not getting back, but winning the ball.

So you could go for a ball winner in midfield, someone who can also put a good ball into the box. So Kayal, Matthews and Fisher could be an interesting one down the right hand side. Fisher's got pace, good delivery as well.

Other option is Ambrose and maybe if you sat Wakaso in front to protect him and look to find Commons by cutting inside.

No matter, we'll need to either change it up, or just have a right hand side that's solid and attack down the left. That's what teams might expect, so it could be worth working on having something a bit different in terms of physicality down the right as opposed to just pace.

I just hope Matthews or Fisher start at right back, I can't handle watching Ambrose again

It will be Matthews. There's not even the slightest bit of doubt about that decision for me.

Aye, I think so as well. Matthews will need to find form quickly though in my opinion.

That will come quickly enough. People are forgetting how good Matthews actually is, Lustig's nailed down the spot for now but after a couple of games Adam will be back up to full speed.

I love big Lustig but he is our most easily replaced important player of you get me :56:

Matthews is a quality player when he is on form, it's one of the main reasons I wanted to see him given a run of games at right wing, because I think we miss a trick when either him or Lustig don't start, as both are quality players. However, he will need to drastically improve on his showing up at Pittodrie, I've not seen him as easily beaten as he was up there in his time here, a lot of that will be down to lack of games though, so I'm not overly concerned at this moment in time.

I've always thought Matthews needs a run of about 3 games before you see him getting back up to speed after an injury.

Was that when he was playing left wing at that game there?

Just the game the other week mate when he was playing right back. He couldn't get near McGinn, as I said though, that could be down to lack of games.

I'm thinking of the European game there I think.

Aye, run of games. What we don't want is Lustig, Matthews and Fisher out at the same time.

No Ambrose. Please *, no Ambrose.
