I fear there's no way back for him, which is a shame as he's been a fantastic player for us over the years he's been here. Unfortunately, you're only as good as your recent form and he's been woeful.

If you had 5 good years at work then were * for a year you'd be sacked, regardless how good the past years were.

He's been under performing for a while now & in any other line of work would have his P45. Yes he's been great for us but he really is hindering the team now. Hope he never pulls the hoops on again other than exhibition matches as he will always be welcome back here.

He’s been a great player for us, but he was absolutely rank rotton today. His sending off was laughable, just absolutely brutal viewing.

He needs taken out of the team no doubt but his achievements and previous performances means he commans respect. Some of the comments about him are nothing short of * disgraceful.

When it comes down to it he’s been a leader in one of the most succesfull periods in our history and been a major part of that.

It’s sad to see somebody who was brilliant go downhill when their career starts tailing off but this is when we should do the same thing we done with Lambert to him - take him out the team, have him a bit part, use his qualities sparingly and enough to have his experience in the squad while limiting his appearances week in, week out.

He’s still a big part of the team, there’s no doubt about that but right now he’s doing more harm and good. Time to take him out the team for a while.

In recent memory there was his performance and red card today which he received for been sloppy under next to no pressure.

Lost his man against Zenit for the third goal.

When he somehow completely scuffed a clearance recently against Partick which then resulted in Partick getting a penalty which they scored.

That’s just of the top of my head. There will be many more occasions throughout the season that he has cost us goals through shocking defending and giving the ball away unnecessarily.

All over the place just now.

Don’t know if it’s because of all the injuries catching up with him and he’s lost a couple of yards or if he’s just tired because of the amount of games he’s played since Rodgers came in.

Would basically sit him out for the rest of the season and see how his body reacts when he comes back next season.

I agree to an extent that his past achievements with us mean that he should have a certain respect, I don’t even blame Lustig anymore, he’s shown on plenty occasions in the last 18 months that he’s nowhere near good enough for where we’re aspiring to be, with Rodgers continuing to pick him throughout then he should take the blame.

Lambert was allowed to do his coaching badges and play a bit part when he was 35; Lustig has just turned 31. He’s quite simply not good enough anymore and we shouldn’t allow sentimality to overrule pragmatism.

Yes, he’s been a great servant for us but he’ll be on a decent wage and now he’s regularly getting roasted in domestic football we need to thank him for his contribution and move him on in the summer.

Poor season for him and he's looked done to me. Hopefully Ralston is ready to make rb his own now.

Great servant for the club but his time is well and truly up.

I really wish him well I do, but we need to make sure that he find a new club come the summer.

Hopefully they move him on during the summer.
He has been a very good servant to the club but he has become a liability this season .
When does his contract end ?

    From the BBC

Rodgers add that Mikael Lustig was "unlucky" to receive two yellow cards and is less than impressed by Aberdeen duo Sam Cosgrove and Shay Logan.

"It's not a great challenge from the boy (Cosgrove) and Logan is not the best example for young players when he twice tried to smash the ball at the player on the floor. Fortunately for Scott (Brown), he didn't hurt him."

He's well past deserving of a bit part role next year. He's only going to get worse.

Would rather we give Ralston experience as cover than keep lustig around for nothing else than his experience

What the * was Lustig thinking? Awful touch and then lunges in. Moronic really. The sooner Ralston is fit the better.

Actually thought he played okay today before the daft challenge that got him sent off. Agree he has been poor this season though

Mika has been a brilliant servant and deserves much more credit and respect for what he has achieved here. The persistent use of Lustig is nothing short of disgraceful at a club our size that was contending in the CL. This player was used when he wasn’t fully fit and even now I don’t believe he is a 100%. But with lack of signings and no thought on all possibilities, we are using the guy because it’s all we really have as experience goes.

TBH I have never gone as overboard as some have on Lusitg in rating him but I don't think you can seriously question his applicaton. It doesn't matter how many mistakes he makes there is no way "he doesn't give a *".

I watch his games on the swedish national team. It's really a different man. Fast, alert. As I said, it could be this, or could be that the swedish coach knows how to set up a defence.
