He's so slow and really lacks stamina nowadays. Gamboa can get up and down the park a lot quicker, and adds more fluidity and quality in our attacks.

Looks like he splits fans opinions more than any other player.

Remember when Erik was future captain material? He's had a few poor games, he's a great player on his day. Won't get much better as a back up

Erik has bottled it in the big games against the Huns on last two occasions. He's been bullied by Sutton and Waghorn lol

Lustig was good yesterday, he spent most of his time needing to cover those around him though.

His issue is the fact when he gets into attacking positions he has two options, cross from where he is or pass it back inside to a midfielder.

He doesn't have the pace to beat a full back or winger on the outside, he is also incredibly one footed meaning you can force him quite easily to do what you want by blocking space. In an attacking sense Gamboa is much better suited to our style of play.

Has Gamboa set up any goal scoring opportunities at all? I can't remember any.

In fairness i would need to see stats, but he has hardly played as much as Lustig has though. When Gamboa has played we look more dangerous, his pace causes serious problems both in an attacking sense and defensively as he covers the whole back line. He also allows Forrest or Paddy to stay inside more as Gamboa has the fitness and pace to always be wide right.

I remember him being in the right back position and covering the whole way across to the left back position, he was only able to do this because of his pace. I am not attacking Lustig, but yesterday it was quite evident we lacked another option down the right.

His pace is very useful defensively but I genuinely can't remember him creating any opportunities in an attacking sense.

He does, even in families! I've always loved the big man, whereas my dad has never been a big fan of his. Thinks he's far too slow and passes the ball sideways or back too often.

I have to say, although he's been arguably my favourite player for about 4 years, his lack of pace is an issue. He was fine defensively yesterday but nobody really ran at him.

The way we play, having full backs with energy and pace is important. Tierney provides that on the left, but Lustig doesn't on the right. Gamboa you would have to say fits our system more, and based on what we've seen he's certainly good enough.

He was bad at their goal, let Clint Hill get a yard or so on him in for the deflection from Gordon.

Think Sviatchenko is more of a concern just now, seems to have lost form.

@Dear Hunter Aye that's wild you seeing one player and your dad seeing another. But I guess that's what Brendan means when he says the new scout whoever it is has to 'know a player' and not just use the Moneyball method, has to be old school too.

I think Brendan brought Gamboa in with an eye on maybe next season as he'll prefer someone with that kind of pace for his game. I think the team lacked pace overall yesterday and that is what usually wins us games in style.

I like Lustig too but I wouldn't mind seeing Gamboa given a run as his pace does look frightening and he can scare the living daylights out of defenders when he's linking up with forward players using high speed passing and movement. I've not really seen how good he is defensively yet. But I know he can track back fast and stop a runner which is a good thing.

I just don't want to see fecking leadpipelouie in here saying I told you so if he becomes first choice :56: He's really got it in for Lustig for some reason.

Gamboa's been improving though so there's every chance he'll get a run of games now.

It'll be interesting to see who Brendan replaces Roberts with. Forrest might be number 1 but we'll need back up and he'll have to be fast too. Unless he's got the skills of Paddy but I doubt that'll be available.

Aye Erik seemed a shadow of himself, very nervous and unsure of his positioning. He was looking great not that long ago. However most of the team were shadows of themselves yesterday. Just one of those days hopefully.

Brendan's preference to rotate the defense a little has worked for Lustig, seems to avoid the injuries that he was prone to. Happy to swap him and Gamboa
However based on yesterdays performance, none of the back 4 were top class. (I include KT because he has been a stand out in every game he has played in, but by his High standards, yesterday was below average performance)
