I feared the worst for Lustig up until a couple of months ago. He was pish for most of the season, like most of the team to be fair, but he had a fantastic end to the season. Scored a couple of goals and was getting up the pitch and looking dangerous.

Like Paul said, if he can stay fit and Rodgers can get the best out of him then we have a cracking player in him. Played 45 games last season, only 1 game fewer than the previous 2 seasons combined. Very positive.

Scored again for Sweden today against Wales.
Hopefully keeps this up for the tournament and
more importantly the Champions League qualifiers.
Although he might get an extra rest period.

It was interesting reading the Guardian's guide to the Euro 2016 squads, they had Lustig down as the 'unsung hero' of the Sweden squad.

Like Sean said, I thought he was poor for a good chunk of last season, but he seemed to improve quite drastically in the last month or so. On form he's one of the best players in the team, and probably one of the most committed overall. Part of me was hoping to see a bit more of Janko next season, but if * is back to his best then he should be starting as many games as he can handle.

Seems a different animal in a sweden strip, was poor last season by his own standards, as were most, this season imo holds so much for everyone

Love the big man. Really good game for Sweden there. :50::celt_2::shamrock:

You think having Roberts on the same wing had anything to do with his good form in the latter part of the season? I might be imagining it but I'm sure Tierney plays better when McGregor has been played out on the left like they have an understanding.

Hope Lustig does well in the Euros, brilliant player at his best.

I recall him saying at the beginning of the season that he had recently had surgery on his hips and could take him up to 18 months to be playing pain free. This could have been a factor and hopefully he's starting to feel the benefit. Still a cracking player.

Can't remember where I saw the interview mind.

He has been really consistent for sweden last year or two. Always played well, nothing too spectacular but always offensive with dangerous crosses and sprints.

I think he´s gonna be great under rodgers

Lustig is undoubted quality, i just sometimes wonder about his application. No doubt he was part of an under performing team in the past season, but I sometimes get a feeling that Lustig tries when he wants to.....he went half the season (or so it seemed) where he was regularly substituted about 70 minutes, was this a niggling injury, or a mature player that is susceptible to picking up a strain and therefore doesn't always push himself 100%, then gets to thinking about the Euro's......then starts trying......

Watched the whole game last night and he was by far their best player IMO. Played well.

Seems to be fitter lately which can only be good for us. I was critical during the season bit rightly so IMO. At his best there is no doubting his quality.

I think he suffered from playing too many games last season. He was burnt out in my opinion. Had Janko not been injured for most of the season, I think we would have seen a much better Lustig, as he could have been rotated more. There is no doubt he is a quality player, and if he can find form again next season, he will be an important player for us. At his best, we would be hard pushed to be able to find someone better.

Think one of the worst things for us, with Lustig playing in the Euro's it could just add to the burnout he was showing during the season.

Aye, that's a fair point. He will need to get a break before the season starts, no doubt about it. We seen how Izaguirre's formed dipped when he was playing constantly without getting a rest. We need Janko to stay fit, or another right back brought in so that Lustig isn't playing as many games as he was last season. Otherwise, we will end up with a similar situation as we had with Izaguirre.

Aye and Izzy is a much more naturally fit player than Lustig.
