Aye (that means yes), some of us haven't grasped our own language properly, or a host of others, unlike the Nordic/Scandinavians. I have sinned my lord..

Back to the real point though, pukki (the prolific Helsinki man) was not cut out for a giant of a club here, was he? He was swallowed up by what looked like an evil, green and white, monster and spat out in Denmark. Oh well, chin up, squire:50:

The bitterness oozing from this post is something else. I'm not going to get into comparisons between Celtic and other clubs as it's already been addressed, and it'll probably just end up with people belittling other teams achievements (sort of like you just did).

What sort of pressure did Pukki experience during his time at Sevilla or Schalke?

He seemingly wasn't rated that much at the former (only making a single appearance for the main team), and at the latter he was more of a cult figure than anything else. If he'd had to fill in for Huntelaar for any lengthy period of time, I'd imagine the Schalke fans opinions wouldn't be too different from the one held by the majority of Celtic fans.

What player is despised at Celtic?

Believing that someone isn't good enough, or lacking the right mentality isn't despising them.

Pukki looked like someone who seemingly lacks the mentality to be the main striker. Whenever he missed a shot, he looked like he needed to go call the Samaritans. A good striker doesn't fall into a deep depression every time they miss, they dust themselves down and get on with it.

When he moves on I hope his career pans out the way he want's it to. I personally don't harbour any sort of ill feeling towards him, but that doesn't mean we have to delude ourselves into believing he's some sort of fantastic player.

    • Celtic in the last few years have beaten teams from Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands & Russia (and if we're being generous, Celtic beat Liverpool, an English side, in a friendly)

    • St Johnstone beat Rosenborg

    • Aberdeen beat Groningen

All of those teams are from superior leagues, according to you, yet for some reason, they lost. Their 'superior tactics' seemingly didn't help them out there (possibly because their tactics weren't so superior after all :eek1:).

Perhaps YOU should accept that Pukki isn't as great as you seem to think he is. It's not because Celtic fans have some sort of ridiculously high standards - it's because Pukki couldn't do the business for us.

Coming on a Celtic forum and slagging off the club, all because people aren't kneeling at the alter of Pukki, is genuinely one of the most stupid things I've ever seen on here.

^ Swedish league is not better than the Scottish league, and the Finnish league is quite a lot worse than the Swedish except for HJK Helsinki which is decent. We aren't delusional about the level of our national league, that's for sure.

But to be honest, teams from Slovenia (they have like 1 or 2 million people) and Poland beat you, so it isn't like your argument is really that waterproof.

Anyways, I agree it makes no sense to come to Celtic forum to talk * about the team. It's just that Finland is a small country where football is not the number 1 sport (ice hockey is), so we football fans cherish our talents (Litmanen, Hyypiä, Forssell) and were hoping Pukki is the next big thing, he can still be! It's of course sad to see that he never made it in Celtic and that he gets so much criticism, some warranted and some probably not..
If he would have made it big, it's clear that I and many others would have come to witness your games and there would be many kids wearing Pukki shirts starting to play football here and potentially becoming fans of your team later in life as well. It's a shame!

I think when you visit a forum you must understand that there are people who have very strong opinions. If you look hard at what's being said then you'll see that most people think that Pukki had potential but that it just didn't work out for one reason or another. People really wanted him to succeed but obviously there are some who never took to him. You can't respond to those by starting to argue about the club because then nobody ends up defending you and those comments actually turn people away from defending Pukki at all.

In regards to Maribor and Legia, the club was adapting at the time to a new manager and completely different culture and our domestic results were awful as well. Liverpool was a hair's width from losing to Ludogorets, but I don't think you'd be arguing that the Bulgarian league is better than the English league. You'd have a hard time coming up with a reasonable argument for why we wouldn't do much better if we faced them today.

In fairness, I was never trying to argue that the any league was better than the other.

I wouldn't necessarily say the Maribor or Legia example really contradicts my argument to be honest; the former in particular is what I was getting at in my last post. I don't think it would be unfair to say that the Scottish league is (generally speaking) tactically superior to the Slovenian league, yet Maribor still beat us. Being a tactically 'superior' league means absolutely nothing if a team from a tactically 'inferior' league wins the match. As an aside, I would argue that we technically beat Legia 3-0 :icon_mrgreen:

It certainly is a shame. Like I said in my last post, when he moves on (I think it's pretty much a certainty at this point) I hope he goes on to have a good career.

    Aye, for the reserves...

When he comes back he'll be behind Griffiths, Stokes and Scepovic.

No future here. Not good enough.

STRIKER Teemu Pukki has joined Brondby IF on a permanent deal following a successful loan spell last season.

The Finnish forward joined the Danish side last summer and scored nine goals for the Superliga team, helping the club finish third in the league.

The 25-year-old has now signed a three-year contract at Brondby after finishing the season as their top scorer.

Pukki joined Celtic in 2013 on a four-year deal following time at German giants Schalke 04.

He scored on his debut as a substitute in an away match against Hearts and also found the net on his home debut against St Johnstone on September 21, 2013.

Over the course of his first campaign Pukki bagged seven goals in total and clocked up 32 appearances, mostly from the bench.

He enjoyed a fruitful pre-season with Celtic last year and went on to score a double against KR Reykjavik in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers but struggled to carry that form into the league before moving to Denmark for a season on loan.

The striker made 37 appearances in total for the Hoops, scoring nine goals.

Celtic Football Club would like to wish Teemu all the very best and every success at his new club.

    Didn't know we sold pukki.
    what we get for him

There is a good player in there with Pukki but for me he doesn't offer anything that say Anthony Stokes who he is similar in style to doesn't. While Balde for me just looks like a bad buy end of story. Better to sell both if we can this summer I feel.

Pukki was * abysmal and no idea why folk need to apologise on his behalf, possibly the best I can say on his behalf is he wasn't suited to the Scottish League but the amount of times basic things like first touch let him down was a concern on who scouted him.

The fact we got anything for this waste of space is a result but all that said I wish him good luck at Brondby.
