I've given midfield hard time in recent games, last 2 games much more like - positivity, confidence and speed of play all excellent

    It will be
McGregor, Hatate , Engels I would imagine .
Bernardo unfortunate but that's the depth we have there .

    This

I really liked the midfield balance today. Much more dynamic.

Today is the best we’ve looked for quite a while in midfield. The rest will do McGregor no harm either.

Aye they complimented each other well..

Had a blend of quality on the ball but with that aggression and athleticism..

It’s hard to tell because St Johnstone are poor but the three worked very well today. It shows that at home against lower sides in the league we don’t always need McGregor to play.

We have some opportunities coming up in January where we could afford to do the same again and keep McGregor fresh for the CL games.

Had improved recently against weak opposition - but previous issues back in force today.

Midfield three lack strong mentality, are physically weak and far too risk averse with the ball.
We need more strength, balance and flexibility.

    Top drawer #6 absolutely critical.

    That midfield today…

Slow, weak, no creativity, no defensive protection.

We desperately need a proper defensive midfielder and a number 10 type. Punt Hatate.

Remove the biggest problem, Hatate, and you’ll see a massive improvement. He is murder, lazy, can’t pass the ball, doesn’t track back. Get rid.

We badly need a CDM, we've coasted for years without one, and if Europe didn't show we needed one, today should.

That Raskin, who has been abysmal against us almost every other time he's played, completely controlled the midfield today.

Lennon ignored it, Ange ignored it, and Rodgers has twice ignored it, we cannot ignore it any longer if we want to properly proceed forward.

We lacked two things in that midfield today.

    1) creativity
    2) a big * nonsense rough you the * up midfielder.

Said during the game... over run...out fought. Out played. Played through. Weak. * in possession. Even worse in the transition.

Needs a total review of the personel and shape in there. Needs to add during the next couple of windows.

It's a mentality issue more than a tactical or skill-based one.

I've said it for years McGregor is obviously a fantastic player but he is/was/never will be a holding mid. How many times do we see in a tough game where McGregor is the sitter us struggle.

Today was eerily similar to Dortmund he was clearly the only one in there to protect the back 4 whilst Bernardo and Reo were in a different postcode further up the park.

For me every midfielder we have wants to do the same thing the possible exception could be Engles as we've not really seen enough of him but Bernardo, McGregor, Hatate, McCowan are all wanting to do the same thing. We need a number 10 and a big * who will kick anything that moves

Every single one of them was an absolute disgrace. Mcgregor was * useless, hatate was a * joke and Bernardo had an absolute nightmare.

And then you're bringing on a complete shitebag like engels mcCowan that's barely played.

    Bumping this thread yet again.
Midfield (again) is a real problem for us against fired up or decent opposition, too many mentally and physically weak players.
I have the fear for YBB game tbh.
