The main problem is the recent inefficiency of our strikers, in matches where tough midfield wasn't so needed. But I agree with Brennan1888, 4-3-3 would rip defenses apart. 3-5-2 with Nakamura playing AM, with Hartley and maybe Brown behind is also a good option.

I think the midfield personnel that we have here is good enough. There is no doubt however that they are not playing to their full potential.

Brown's form this season has been embarrasing most of the time.At Hibs he played in a different position to what he is playing now.Hibs were a counter-attacking team who maximised Brown's pace by letting Thomson and Beuzelin do a lot of the dirty work. When they got the ball on the counter Brown was a huge asset because of his pace and drive. This doesn't explain his complete lack of basic passing ability and balll control in a Celtic strip though.I hope he is just low on confidence.

The only consistent thing about Donati this season has been his inconsistency.I worry that he hasn't got the heart for the battle. Most of his best games have been at Celtic Park. Most of his bad games have been away from home. This sort of suggests that he doesn't like it up him.Like Brown though,I still have a lot of hope for him.He is the most talented central midfielder in Scotland IMO.If he decides that he really wants to roll his sleeves up,get stuck in and become a success at Celtic then he will.Who would have thought Jarosik would show the aggression and desire that he lacked in his first season in the second?

Paul Hartley has simply got old.His legs have gone.He is not able to get up and down the pitch anymore.A bit like Roy Keane who morphed from and all action box-to-box midfielder into an holding one as he got older. He is a very valuable squad memeber.Personally I would stick with him in the run in.Next season I would play Donati in the home games and Hartley in the away games.

Robson is also one who will have to adapt to playing in a 2 man CM.He had Gomis and Bauben doing his dirty work for him as well.He looked good today though.I doubt he will play as well if he doesn't have Hartley beside him.

I don't think Strachan has a clue about central midfield. It is notable that he has now signed the best midfielder from Dundee United,Hibernian and Hearts but doesn't seem to know what to do with them.

I think the midfield is far too predictable. The usual 4 in midfield of Nakamura, Hartley, Brown, McGeady make it easy for the opposition to play against. Nakamura tends to drift out of games and if you give him a few rough challenges early on then he tends not to apper for the rest of the match. Hartley has been most consistent midfielder but still doesn't look like the player that used to get 10 goals a season at Hearts.

Brown runs about trying to impersonate Gravesen on rollerblades whilst McGeady is the only threat therefore all the opposition have to do is double up on him and therefore the teams stops playing.
