There's obviously lots of factors involved in signing players nowadays, particularly players their clubs dont want to lose.

I'm sure O'Riley said he was aware of Brightons interest in June but they didn't sign him until less than a week before the window closed. Seems to be just the way it is

Can see and agree, prone to it myself for sure.

I don't believe one window, good or bad, should wipe out the opposite, but it has to be taken over time and along with various other components of football.

Over the piece, Nicholson seems to resort to doing what lawwell did/does/says, for me, it looks like the speedy transfers when he first came in, was more to do with Ange - it was just those three Japanese players to be honest. Albeit I will happily give credit for the switch to O'Rielly and having that backup option there. It does seem more a club type signing than an Ange one - be it that both sides got excited for it.

It goes down, certainly as a good window.

But we've now had more bad than good under him.

I think he's still got some time with the fans to be positive going forward, but he needs to show it come January AND next summer, at least.

For me (now going on a tangent about the squad), if he (as the CEO assuming he has a hand in operations as lawwell did for that position as a defacto DoF) manages to trim down the 6 loaned players, by getting rid of some permanently come January (think two sre due back before), and freeing those slots up to benefit out youth talent, shile also bringing in 2-3 players of at least the quality of player we brought in this summer, then thats a continued positive for me.

I know I'm on a mad rant at this stage, but it's a positive one for a change, well with positive hope.

Oh, I didn't know that. That was a good window!

It was out of ignorance rather than dishonesty. I genuinely didn't know that was Nicholson.

January window 2024 incomings were Kühn and Idah. Both have contributed well so far and are successful signings.

Also got rid of Ideguchi, Turnbull, Tilio, Bernabei, M.Johnston, and got a good fee for Abada who was unsettled.

The only black mark against that window now is not getting a left back in, which fortunately paid off as a risk.

It wasn’t an amazing transfer window, but it would be sensible to stop labelling it a terrible window.

At last Michael Nicholson speaks out to tell us about Tisdale and says nothing, no he did tell us that Brendan Rodgers is our manager so thanks for the clarification. From Celtic website …

Celtic Chief Executive, Michael Nicholson said: “We are delighted to appoint Paul as Head of Football Operations, and we are sure he will bring a new dimension to our work.

'Talent identification and talent development, from our Academy through to our first team, is of fundamental importance to the club’s strategy, and Paul has tremendous expertise in these areas.'

“We are certain that he will bring great experience, energy and innovation to what we do, working alongside Brendan, our football manager, Chris McCart Head of Academy and our excellent wider football staff, to bring further development and success to the club.”

It felt like one at the time, Kuhn now looks amazing, and dental problems apparently stymied that after signing but he had a wee run even at that 4/5 games made an impact.

Idah looked a panic loan, won us a league and cup. And we’ve since broke a transfer record for him, however briefly until Engels became it.

Honestly, that window made me have faith in Rodgers again in hindsight.

Yeah it didn’t feel great but we never truly know how good a window was until we’re further down the line. In hindsight it was decent, minus the failure to get a left back.

A madcap Celtic fan took brief control at the AGM with a short stand-up routine before branding CEO Michael Nicholson 'the Godfather of Scottish football' and comparing him to American actor Al Pacino.

The shareholder launched into a long series of jokes about Scottish referees, Gary Hooper and being a rebel before he was urged to ask a question by chairman Peter Lawwell.

The fan reacted by comparing Nicholson and Lawwell to characters from the 1972 film The Godfather, a Hollywood classic about the demise of an old-school mafia Don, played by Marlon Brando, and the rise of his son, performed by Al Pacino.

After being gently urged to hurry up and ask a question, the fan said: "Apologies. In that case, Mr Chairman, can I just say something to Michael?

Michael, when Peter was our Chief Executive, he was known as the Godfather of Scottish football. You are now the Godfather of Scotland. You are Al Pacino to Peter's Marlon Brando.

"Coming soon to a widescreen near you. Printed films in association with Shardlock Studios present HD, 3D and VG. Godfather IV, starring Michael Nicholson. Co-starring Brendan Rogers as the Hitman. John Clarke as the Kit Man. Peter Lawwell as the Chairman. Brian Wilson as the History Man
