No one can escape criticism. Lawwell, Desmond, Nicholson and Rodgers have all played a part in where we are right now in terms of the state of the squad and performances on the park.

Dom McKay deserves no praise. He was woefully out of his depth, hence why he didn't survive with us.

I think it shows how much Ange did in transfers, being the driving force behind it all. Using his own contacts.

I see why we may think Dom McKay was the man who got things moving and maybe true.

However Nicholson was still the lad, who for two winter windows, signed players BEFORE the window opened.

What seems to be the changing factor is still Peter lawwell being out the picture then back in it.

Soon as he came back on the scene everything has slowed down and been reigned in again.

Any illusion of big money being spent, gone.
Higher calibre of player (thus wage), gone.

For this, allowing this to be the case and not being his own man, Nicholson deserves plenty of blame for this transfers window as well as Lawwell for being the guy he is, as well as Desmond for being so passive yet again with allowing lawwell to be this way with the club.

People do realise no matter who is CEO all they are doing is Desmonds bidding? The reason all previous transfer windows went smooth under MN was because we identified the areas to strengthen early and get the ball rolling early for the players Ange wanted.

For this window Rodgers wanted to assess the squad before knowing where to strengthen, which was a mistake because we all knew where we needed quality in to improve the team.

So instead we had the players who were identified months ago come in early then we were late to the party looking for quality to improve us.

    No, they clearly don't.
(Learning this has saved me no end of waffle posts to read tbf though.)

Supporters deserve their share of the blame too.

Should never have let them away with covid season but we were sweet talked by big Ange and all renewed on mass (myself included) right after his 1st press conference.

Allowing that fat * to return to power without any kind of protest or argument bcoz everything on the park was rosey was a mistake too.

But it's generally how we are, each season is like groundhog day. We perform * in europe, we are all angry, we then typically go on a good run post new year and win league and a cup and we are all happy again and forget the * in the background, then transfer window rolls around, we do our typical penny pinching act and we are angry again, we then cuff the huns while they stumble about sacking managers and everything is fine again until we get skelped in europe in November and repeat.

Has been that way for the past 10 years apart from the season lennon completely * everything but like I say we let them away with that despite the fact the treated us like *, vilified us and put up fences.

Fans seem to place a lot of the blame for the current situation on Lawell but surely a lot more questions have to be asked of Nicholson’s role and influence on the Board. After all, he’s the CE and is ultimately answerable for the running of the club including the overall business plan, European aspirations, etc. He’s had an easy ride as CE so far and rarely communicates with the support. In my view the supporters groups and fans should be trying to pin him down for answers to the current predicament.

@SteveKen there's no pinning any of them down for the actual truth, ie. "We don't give a * about Europe or about progressing as a club. Our only remit is to best Sevco to the domestic title".

That's the long and short of it.

Answers will be well prepared and rehearsed for any AGM trouble makers.
"We tried to get players in but A, B, and C happened".
"The players we signed were in the pipeline for a good few months".
"We didn't invest because Brendan wanted to properly evaluate the current squad".
"Our model is successful and we will stick to it, look at the league titles, look at the club's bank balance".

DD is a * dinosaur and an arrogant * who literally behaves like a Tory PM. "I know better than you, and this is for you're own good".

Lawell, Nicholsen, the entire BoD, all dance to whatever song DD wants to play. If DD decided tomorrow to take that 70odd mil and pump it right into the first team squad, Lawell and Nicholsen would be up to their arses in contract talks.

We're being run by the * Wizard of Oz, and a gang of flying monkeys.

With a splash of good ol' fashioned nepotism slowly creeping its way into the very fabric of our club like a * cancer. Lawells son, Desmond's son, if Nicholsen has a son or if he was old enough, he'd probably be our * SLO.

    Desmond needs gone. Yesterday.

It still amazes me that people think that the CEO of the club simply follows orders from Desmond and basically has no say in the running of the club. Tell you what, if that’s the case, we could have saved a lot of money instead of paying Lawwell £1m a year when he was CEO. A million a year for being the glorified tea boy.

We are stuck in difficult position, as our league tv money is negligible compared to the countries we are competing against in the CL. The smart play would be to try and develop more of our own home grown players, but this doesn’t appear to be feasible as witnessed by the DOAK debacle when the most promising young Scottish player is effectively poached by Loserpool.

Unless we can build a team that can stay together for a full cycle of 5 years, we are destined to be in a constant state of rebuild each transfer window.

To be fair to MN, he has managed to secure the key first team players on long term contracts, so that is a positive. We do unfortunately need to sell a player for big money each season or second season to fund the transfers.

If or when SEVCO go bust again. We should use that as an opportunity to bring thru as many young players as we can and develop our own team from the academy.
