Agreed which will be a massive stretch at this point IMO.

Messi wanted Xavi but Xavi wouldn’t work with the current regime so signed a contract extension and in the meantime they’ve brought in another journeyman Manager with a * track record (Albeit an absolute elite world class player in his day). So now they’re at the point they’d have to remove the President and ideally the majority of his cronies on the Board, sack a manager that’s not managed a game of football for them, buy Xavi out his contract and build an entire new team around Messi as Rakitic, Suarez, Vidal and undoubtedly a few others leave and its apparent the likes of Coutinho, Griezmann, Dembele and several others are either not good enough or their face doesn’t fit.

The alternative is far easier, exercise his apparent contractual right to go and work for a quality manager in a quality side with a proven track record and have some success in the final 3 years of his career.

That Depeche Mode when we score!!
To be fair yesterday he asked his father the best way to make cheese on toast. And it was lovely so I heard. So it’s not all bad.

Nice to see Barcelona in a bit of turmoil. Long may it continue.

It would be pretty interesting to see Messi playing in England. I don't buy into all that 'wet Wednesday night at Stoke' stuff but it's a very different style of football in England and I'd be interested to see how Messi adapted to it.

Even though I don't like this team, if I could choose where Messi went, I would send him to Juventus. I just think it would be box office TV to see him and Cristiano playing together in the same team.

From his statement its pretty obvious he still wants to leave but the only way to do that is by taking the club to court. Which he won't do.

It's September. He can discuss a new move in January. This is a mere speed bump.

How can they possibly keep him? And how can the fans possibly want that in good faith now after that interview?

What a shambles of a club Bartomeu has turned them into.

If this president is getting the chop maybe he should just call Messi's bluff and tell him to get to. The money freed up from his wages would probably be enough to get in several quality, younger players.

If Messi realistically wants to win the Champions League in the next couple of years then he should leave because he is one of the reasons that Barcelona can't rebuild as the team is based round him and a great deal of their money is splurged on him.

It makes some sense from his side to avoid the legal route and I loved what he had to say about it all last night - still it's crushing to accept he's being held against his will by the club he has given everything to

But elect * leaders and you get * decisions - I hope Bartomeu is censured and ultimately ends up in jail but corrupt clowns seem to have a way of averting what they deserve

Truly, I am crushed. I have watched now for a decade, brick by brick the erosion under Rosell & Bartomeu and all the while the conservative base has bought the propaganda hook, line & sinker much like Trump kids.

I believe things will eventually course correct in a way that pleases many like minded cules but it won't be soon enough and it won't ameliorate Messi's plight. He's handsomely paid, has everything most of us could only dream of but happiness doesn't have a price and considering how much joy he evokes for all of us I want for him to have that - he deserves it and certainly has earned it

    Unprecedented times

What’s happened under Bartomeu? I know it’s basically gone to *, but what specifically has he done, or is failing to do?
