I have a question for all the people who want Aiden to leave. Have any of you actually played a game of football in your lives? If so then you will know how hard it is to mark somebody like him. Final ball and shooting can be worked on and practiced. McGeady has got a lot of improving to do but i want him to stay. Its logical he is a die hard tim, and he is amazing at tearing full backs apart. We should keep our best players unless crazy money is offered. 10 million is the minimum i would accept. if i was a manager i would point to the money Rangers got for Hutton and say we want 12 million for Aiden.

Ye thats my point, they started out in division 2 or 3 and have worked theie way up to the SPL's 3rd force and they are both linked with moves away from Dundee Utd so managers must like them!

He's 24 years of age, that should be here by now surely?

How many more assists would McGeady have if we had strikers that could actually score?

He does have his flaws, if he didn't he wouldn't be here, but just as you are excusing other players stats because of the players playing along side them then surely you have to give the same consideration to McGeady.

How many sitters did our strikers miss last season and how many of those sitters where set up by McGeady? I'm willing to bet a fair few.

He's not irreplaceable, every player is replaceable but I don't see anyone in the SPL that could replace him so the question then becomes would it cost more to replace him than what we'd get in?

You saying Robbie Keane couldn't score then? Keane got so frustrated with McGeady a countless number of times.

I must be watching a different game from you, he hardly ever seems to beat the first man with his crossing. I don't recall him putting great balls into the box only for out strikers to miss.

I agree, McGeady frustrates the life out of me and I honestly don't think he would be hard to replace in terms of effectiveness. For me, his goal return this season was poor aswell as was his final ball alot of the time! Im not one for lookin at stats as they only count if the player scores! Talk of teams bidding £8m for him is quite funny, they are being ripped off if they are willing to pay that sum of money for him, id bite someones hand off for £4m

So you never saw a good McGeady ball go into the box only for our strikers to either miss it or fluff it? If you haven't we really must be watching different games.

Keane missed a few sitters as well you know, he didn't score with every chance he got, it happens.

Keane was there for a few months what about at the start of the season when we were missing numerous chances each week, or the season before? Do they not count becuase he had a good finisher there for a few months towards the end of the season.

Some fans over hype McGeady and it's frustrating, but equally frustrating are those fans that give him zero credit and write him off as useless.

90% of the time when we are breaking out of defence or trying to break a team down the ball is passed to McGeady and it goes through him so he has most opportunity in our midfield to have attempts at crossing or shooting. Again I'm not doubting the ability McGeady has, I just don't think he's producing it enough at Celtic anymore.

You should have a long think before you post next time, try not to be so condescending and try taking other opinions on board before you shoot someone down.

Personally I believe Conway could come here and be in and around our first team. Maybe with someone like him instead of McGeady then the responsibility could be spread across our midfield instead of all put on Aiden.

That is the same thing that has been repeated for years now, if he is going to remain an important part of our team then he needs to produce an end product now or else more and more people will believe it will never improve.

Och of course he has put a couple of good balls into the box and the chances have been missed but the way you are talking is suggesting your blaming out strikers for McGeady not having more assists to his name. There have been a few games this season where the finishing has been awful and the one that sticks out in my mind (probably because of the importance of the game) is the New Year Old Firm game. The main culprits in that game for me were McGeady and Samaras, should have had a hatrick each.

You suggested that other players would have better assist rates if they had better players playing along side them, I just stated that McGeady too would have had better assist rates if the strikers finished off more of the chances a fact that a lot of people totally overlook when writing McGeady off.

Is McGeady a world class player as some would have you believe, no not a chance, he is however one of the best players we have at the club at this point in time which is why I don't understand the rush from some to get rid of him. Getting rid of one of the better players in an already poor squad just weakens us and unless it's for silly money then it's just not worth it imo.

Yes, i have played football, and know that when your winger beats his man you should be running into the box to get on to it, but when that winger is mcgreedy, then he will turn back, then inside, outside, and the strikers dont have a * clue what to do, where to go, or when the ball is coming in.

Final ball, and shooting - Work on and practise. HE has been a regular for years, and still has a shocking final ball. His shooting is atrocious. Apart from his goals at Motherwell and Aberdeen this season, when he cuts in, there is a VERY GOOD chance that the ball will go wide. He very rarely tests the keeper.

The money rangers got for Hutton, was when he was at his best for Rangers, therefore they could demand stupid money for him.

What has McGeady done since winning player of the year?? Nothing. How can we demand 12 million for him, when he hasnt performed for us.

    Exactly!!

Keep him until his value goes up.

4m figures getting thrown about for mcgeady... Don't make me laugh.

Less than half what Gordon went for.

Agreed mate, if no one wants to pay the going rate, unlike our rivals accross the city we don't NEED to sell.

He will only improve under the guidance of trappatoni, and Lennon anyway, and when the time is right for both parties I'm sure he will get his move and Celtic will be paid a tidy some.

If we win the league next year teams will come knocking I guarentee you and it won't be for 4m pounds!!
