I know I have banged on about it but it just something that * me off so much I cant ever forgive it. If he leaves Celtic and that costs us all because he is a mouth then that wont help either.

I have always thought he has a spoiled child demeaner and he has a huge amount of growing up to do. Everything about his career and his body language and demeaner on the field screams 'its all about me'. This incident has opened up a big discussion about him and his conduct on many Celtic websites and the one thing that stands out about him is he has a long history of being mouthy and disrepsectful and egotistical going back to youth levels and has a head the size of a whale. Someone (a mature *) says they passed him the other night and just said hello and were told to * off by him. The stories (by Celtic fans) about his big man attitude in nightclubs going around a month or two ago also put him in a bad light. He just does not seem to be a very nice bloke at all and sounds like he has been spoiled.

BTW, I actually do remember the WGS incident. It was typical WGS, totally tongue in cheek live on TV as a pundit at some game. He actually said something like he should be hung drawn and quartered but was laughing etc. It was never serious although I am sure deep down he was very unhappy with McGeady.

'Naturalised Scot' my *. Not only he but his parents too were born and brought up in Scotland and even some of his grandparents. He is a Scot. You owe your country as a duty. You dont just shop around with things like that and there is no point in pretending you are your grandfather. It also plays right into the hands of those who think Scots catholics are not proper Scots or are disloyal and so has done Scots catholics no favours at all.

Ive never been Strachan's biggest fan but if McGeady deserved it then fair enough, i just cant get my head around the timing of this.

Surely it would have made more sense to ban him after the OF game :97:

Does anyone know if there is a time rule between reason for ban and the inception of a punishment? This would explain a lot.

Might not have been a contrived plan but by the sounds of things if Aiden mans the * up and apologises then he'll be able to play at the weekend never mind the huns game.

If this was the world of professional wrestling it'd be the perfect twist, the player and manager see fake reports in the paper and come up with this cunning plan. :icon_mrgreen: Don't think it is though :54:

    Immediate Effect

Bans are normally imposed regardless of the fixture list and I dont see how a punishment would work if you are picking and choosing the timing. Why not leave it until the last 2 weeks of the season then?

Maybe on appeal it will be reduced to one game. I dodnt honestly think he would have played v Rangers anyway but I think we will miss him and Shaun v Falkirk. I can see that being sticky if they are defensive and most of our creative players are out. Think its time to bring give Mizuno or McCourt a debut rather than do the round holes square pegs shuffle.

What made me think of this was a few years ago ...Wigan played St Helens at Wembley in the Rugby League Cup Final and in the week leading up to the game Wigans captain was so called injured , i think he even travelled to London with Crutches ....Then an hour before the game he appears on the field , quick run up and down then played the full game :icon_mrgreen:.....biggest wind up in sport i have ever seen :celt_2:

Those types of mind games happen in games with the huns all the time....from both sides!

I think this one is a tad far fetched though :56:

Its not about loyalties, its about duty. If 3 generations of your family have been supported by the country then you owe it. End off. All this shopping around to suite yourself and your romantic identity is a rather American idea. Practical duty to the place that has give 3 generations of your family a life is more important than fullfilling your own dreamy fancy. Community duty before gratifying your own romanitic notions. Anyway others are welcome to have different views but I am happy mine are based on giving and duty rather than self fullfillment. On my planet giving an duty are rather more noble.

Once again I have to say, this is not a war it is a sport.

He never turned his back on any country he accepted an invitation to play football for the Irish football association, that is it.

The way the Scottish equivalent has been run in recent years I'd be doing the exact same and I wouldn't even think twice about being a 'traitor' or any of that romanticised nonsense.

reign yourself in there bud,i think you'll find we're both resident on the same planet.the fact that he and his family pay tax to the scottish government not come into it?maybe playing for ireland is a way for him to honour family connections.
what if your son was born abroad and wanted to play for scotland?would you tell him he's an ignoble ,undutiful, romantic ingrate who should get practical would you?

He wouldn't get a game for Scotland anyway. I'm glad he's opted to play for Ireland. Far too lightweight for Internationals.
