The language might be emotive but that is exactly how most people who care about the Scottish team feel, most of them non-Old Firm fans who dont have the sectarian disease. The vast majority feel you are expected to do your internatonal DUTY. Its not meant to be the sort of thing you shop around and compare options for.

As for the attack, anyone who attacks anyone is a scumbag and a sectarian attack is an even lower level of scumbag. I just am not sure about the facts because I dont trust the press and many tims themselves posting here seem to give different stories suggesting that he is a bit of a * who is often getting into trouble.

I am half Irish and half Scot. If I were so lucky to get an international call-up, I would have picked Scotland, would have broken my Grans heart, but you can not play for both, the boy loves his Irish roots, let him play where he wants.

Would love to see him in a Scotland top, but he is just as good to watch in an Irish shirt.

As for the attack, I hope this doesnt add to him wanting to leave Glasgow.

I wish McGeady had chosen to play for Scotland, but do you know what,I've gotten over it!!!

The people who are getting so incensed and angry need to take a good long hard look at themselves.Isnt there more important things going on in the world today?

You keep repeating the phrase"duty"Players are selected to play for a football team, not enlist in the army!!!I simply dont believe that the scumbags who carry out these attacks are non Old Firm fans incensed by his choice of national team. And if you are honest with yourself,I think you'll admit that these incidents are caused by mindless bigots who hate McGeady because of his club and the country he has chosen.Nothing to do with "snubbing" Scotland

McGeady might"be a bit of a *"but he's still entitled to go out socially without fear of being assualted by these knuckle draggers.I dont trust the press either, but I've stayed in the West of Scotland long enough to understand why these situations occur.

Lots of differing points of view on this sorry episode...some good, some bad and some a wee bit OTT imho.

My tuppence is that no-one deserves the * McGeady was subject to, and likewise Novo. I hate the fact there are a disgusting moronic element from both supports who think it makes them "big men" to go out and abuse players. The thing is you never here of a one on one situation and it's always a gang mentality thing, no doubt the result of one goading another into it.

The fact remains that McGeady and any other player is entitled to be able to go out and enjoy a night in peace but the reality is that in the West of Scotland the chances of that are slim at best. Maybe after this he'll exercise a wee bit more judgement in choosing the places he frequents. It's a pity but simply a fact of life and what makes it worse is that the perpetrators usually only get a slap on the wrist and nothing more.

On a wee sidenote, I rememeber discussing this with Roy Aitken once at a supporters dinner and he said the fact that he sometimes got abuse in Ayrshire was more a compliment to him and the fact the Huns respected his ability to stick it right up them. Quite a nice way of looking at it I suppose but take into account he is a big * and most of the coward element won't take on someone who looks like they'd be capable of smacking them around a bit.
