He's a bit up himself but he's a really good coach and was years ahead of his time in terms of sports science.
The fact he's not working in youth development at any level is a loss

lol ok I get it, all the decent players were all down to someone else and all the * was his fault... ah well at least I know ye's actually like BR now and I was mistaken about yer insistence on having a dig at him on every post ye make.

    Have at it.

Agree with that to be fair. Said on the last page that we've been * at it for years.

I do think in general though there's a lack of genuine talent at the club. Even then, if there is we either lose them or waste them.

Hoopy what’s your issue bud? No one is slating Rodgers. Just saying it’s a FACT he doesn’t develop youth team players so we’re unsure why he gets that tag.

Celtic definitely do have good youth players. Look at mcardle, looks class any time we’ve seen him….suddenly disappears and we see absolute jobby performances from Bernardo, McCowan and even Hatate/engels some times.

why does he feel the need to bring a player in and suddenly drop them? That’s not developing youth.

a club like us have the ability to consistently play young players now due to the 5 sub rule. It’s a joke we don’t see at least one player every game

    Yeah totally agree with that.

Think at any other club Chris McCart would have been shown the door a long time ago. His time as head of academy has beeen a massive failure.
For a club whos entire business model is to develop players for profit not to have brought through 1 quality 1st team player in 9 years is outrageous.

He might no have been up to scratch but we certainly didn't help and give him the chance with the state of that loan again last season..

    Hopefully Frame's guided better..

Makes mcmanus comments all the weirder. Seems a very distinct disconnect within the club between development and first team. I just don't see the point of it all, hoovering up talent across Scotland bringing in young players from further afield like bonetig etc. play a few lowland league games and basically disappear to be later released. Basic stuff for me, club should be telling Rodgers for every +7mill purchase we give you you have to play a academy graduate in at least 20 competitive games that coming season. I.e the fringe players of the squad should be academy graduates not some punt from other side of the world

Maybe there isn't genuine talent but why would talent want to stay here and find out? * loans, no game time and dross like Kwon, Tilio and Yuki get brought in. No wonder players like Vata and Kelly thought * this I'm off.

Aye I agree. But I also don't think they two in particular were up to much. Didn't see it with Kelly at all. Mccardle instantly impressed me more.

I wish Rodgers was adventurous, and gave Anderson time in SPFL. It's not like it's super hard. And we need a LB. This is such a waste.

Thought both looked like they had potential. Kelly slotted straight in, nothing spectacular but certainly wasn't out of place.

Vata similar and has a threat.

Personally, if we had kept them in the squad for a few more seasons I think that would have helped us. Few are going to be the better players in our team but it is a squad game and we are weaker for not addressing that.

Last player from the academy to make 50 appearances for us is Stephen Welsh.
Made his debut nearly 5 years ago.
    * knows who’ll be the next one.
    A disgrace really.

Matthew Anderson is the next red and white addition!

The 21-year-old Scot was trained at Celtic Glasgow and captained the Scottish traditional club in the UEFA Youth League on 6 occasions in 2022.

In recent seasons, Anderson was loaned by Celtic to Admira Wacker in the Austrian 2. Liga . The youth international scored 2 goals and provided 8 assistsin 44 games for the Austrian club .

"After the departure of Dion De Neve, we had to strengthen the left back position. We are happy that we can sign a young talent with an offensive attitude with Matthew", explains Nils Vanneste , Sporting Director KVK.

Matthew Anderson now makes a permanenttransfer from Celtic Glasgow to KVK and signs a contract until June 2028.

    Welcome, Matthew!

I get that it's hard to bring on youth players when we have guys like Bernado and McCowan on the bench.

However a few years ago we only had 3 subs and managed to keep the squad happy. We now have five. BR could use one of those for a development player and still have one more than we used to.
Obviously if it's a really tight game I understand he might not take the risk. But there's been enough games in the past where he could have give a young player 15min without any risk.
