I agree he's probably not but can you blame people for thinking otherwise? The board have historically given people no reason to trust them to get things done.

Barnardo is decent, but not on the same level as O'Riley.

Massive shoes to fill and I'm not sure we have anyone currently at the club capable of filling them and not making this a huge loss, We need a ready made quality replacement.

After the last two transfer windows there’s nothing off the table. Expect * all and hope for a shock. That’s been my view all summer.

Personally, I'd go Atalanta, Europa League winners, in the CL, better weather!

Having deals lined up waiting on matt being sold with over £80m cash in the bank is embarrassing

£28 million with a 20% sell on would be tasty.....

Stuart Armstrong and Luke McCowan as the new midfielders. Bank the cash celtic as Peter said need it for a rainy day when we don't make the UCL.

I'd rather just keep him and spend the money we do have, after the CL campaign we'd still have £70m+.

Up to Matt I guess but think he'd be better holding out for a bigger club, he really doesn't need a stepping stone to a top club imo.

Matt O’Riley has informed Celtic that he wants to join Brighton if a deal can be agreed, sources have told Football Insider.

The Seagulls have submitted a formal bid of £25million including significant add-ons to try to secure the versatile midfielder

Celtic have rejected five offers from Atalanta throughout this transfer window, including one worth up to £21.5million as they vowed to hold out for more.

The Premier League club have provided more with their bid, and sources believe a deal could be agreed in the next 24 hours.

Football Insider revealed that Atalanta were set to make a new offer for the 23-year-old, but Brighton appears to have hijacked their plans.

Those close to Celtic believe O’Riley is keen to test himself in the Premier League after making a huge impact in Glasgow.

His expected departure will leave a big hole in Celtic’s midfield as he’s played 124 games for the club since joining from MK Dons in 2022, scoring 27 goals and providing 35 assists.

Despite the transfer speculation surrounding him this summer, O’Riley is said to have remained professional and committed to Celtic

The Denmark international has played every minute of Celtic’s season so far, creating one assist in his three appearances.

However, he’s now actively wanting to move south of the border to embark on a career in the Premier League for Brighton.

I find it hard to understand the above, does the £25m include the significant add ons within that or have they offered us £25m and the offer includes significant add ons on top of the £25m.

If it is not the later they can bolt.

Agreed. Now the driveway is heated I expect new locks on the front gates and some stone pillars at the doorway.

People are saying he's got champions league football here. Yeah that's fine but this squad where it is now will get gubbed in the champions league. If we would of shown more ambition at the start of the window it maybe would of given MOR something else to think about. I don't know lets say a bigger upgrade at LB and CB then Rodgers maybe could of sat down with him and said look we have upgraded the squad, lets have a crack at the champions league again.

Might not have changed anything at all but who knows
