I'm sure O'Riley's agent will have a relegation clause in the contract. He will not be playing in the Championship if Southampton get relegated. Personally I don't think it's great move for MOR but no one else is getting close to the valuation.

Gotta be honest, I'd say between £22-25M and 20% is probably it. Possibly £20M and 25%.

This feels a lot like most clubs are waiting to see what we accept, and then they'll try to gazump each other on his personal terms. Definitely not expecting a bidding war between them.

Southampton would be a * move for him, hope he doesn't go there. They're an absolute cert to go back down this year.

Wouldn't hold him back from wanting to progress.....but I also don't want to be pushing him out the door.

Plenty of contract left.....we need to stand firm. And Rodgers needs to stand firm in terms of reinvestment

Totally disagree with that to be honest, any time we’ve had a high value asset the board have demanded a record fee. If he played anywhere else he’d be a £40m player.

The absolute minimum I’d accept is £28m and we can talk about a sell on percentage after that.

Selling for £20m would be madness. Won't happen.

I'd rather not even sell him for 30m at this point tbh. Makes * all difference to us as fans.

If we sold O'Riley for £25m, we should be spending all of that on new players. That would cover the 4 or 5 players we need at a minimum.

That's what a good club would do because we're already well into profit that spending the entirety of whatever fee we get for O'Riley wouldn't make any dent in our balance sheet.

Would we do that? Would we *. They'd spend £4m at a push and bank the rest.

    It's * appalling.

Last season we genuinely had a chance of getting out of our Champions League group but the window completely * us. It killed any chance before a ball was kicked.

    * * running our club, man.

Tbh i'm against selling him now, at least until we see what's happening nearer the end of the window.

Don't want to end up a key player down with * all to show for it except a better looking bank statement.

If we were getting results in Europe and Matt was starring id think we'd get upwards of 30 35m but we're not so the players valued against the opposition hes playing and doing well against.
Id luv us to build a team of quality around matt and our better players for European success but the board don't want to and it seems never will do it unless they manage to luck out and buy a bunch of quality players for a few million each which is very unlikely

I can't get excited by him leaving for a record fee. We won't reinvest it it anyway so as a fan it's nothing but a negative. I want to see him stay for a crack at the CL this season. Need to keep Matt at all costs.

Yeah....i agree....but hes also right....There are absolute no marks leaving countries like ours if not worse for a good amount of money....why not hold out and ask for at least 30?

I dont want to see him leave....but we have known he will for around 3 months now...if not more....If this board dont have players ready to be brung in with this news....then they do need to be hounded as of Sunday...

You got a point. Ever since the golden generation we sell for really high prices! Even bang average players go for silly money these days!

Matt O'Riley, Celtic 's jewel , is increasingly destined to leave his current club. He is a target of Atalanta , as we have reported several times, but in the last few hours Percassi's club has had to dedicate itself to other matters (Retegui) due to Scamacca's serious injury . Brighton , which has great financial availability, has always targeted O'Riley and in the last few hours has reportedly presented an offer of 25 million plus 4 bonuses which is really close to what the Scottish club has always asked for the 2000-born player. A piece of news that will certainly not please Atalanta, we will see if a deal will be reached in the next few hours.

That'll be accepted if correct. If he gets the move he wants, I won't begrudge him the move. He's been a class act in his time here.

Hopefully triggers another increased bid from another club....not that we'll see any investment on it.
