Getting tens of millions of pounds would be nice, having Matt want to stay here long term would be better. I think his future prolly lies elsewhere unfortunately but it would certainly be something if he stayed.

Italian media claiming we want £23m. Can't see it being that low.

He will be worth what folk will pay for him but he is a class act, if it’s Atalanta or Southampton he goes to he will move again soon.

They want €50m for Koopmeiners, I rate him highly but I actually am not sure he is a better footballer at 26 than Matt is just now. See for some of the players Chelsea etc have spent £30m+ on O’Riley technically is head and shoulders better than they are.

If he is sold for £23m someone has got themselves a bargain.

Worth more to us than 23..

    I genuinely wouldn't entertain it..

You can just tell his games gone up a level again and if he's here or elsewhere at the end of this window, he's gonna have a phenomenal season..

Some of us laughing here but unfortunately I think if we do get offered 23 million it would be under serious consideration.

There’s not much between the 23 and 25+ which we will actually want.

lol, this is bargaining 101… £23m is approximately €30m.

I reckon they are flipping the denominations deliberately to the media to try pull the price down with subliminal tricks. It’s just like the lowballing offers, they are tactically trying to wear us down in the negotiations by constant bids but only ever increasing by small amounts until we cave.

It’s pretty much what we do as a club.

To get a top price for any player there needs to be at least two teams interested & actively bidding. It all seems very quiet right now with supposedly Leicester & Southhampton interested but not submitting bids.

Why is the acceptable figure for our best players always £25m to the board?

We sold Tierney for that price 5 years ago, we should be asking for £30m+. If he was already in the Premier League he'd be going for £60m+.

We could sell him for 103mil never mind 23mil and we would only spend 3mil to replace him. The rest would go directly into the bonus kitty.

He'll be worth what we accept.

He's no worth the £15m that Atalanta have offered.

Two sides to that argument, O’Riley only cost about 1.5m but admittedly wasn’t at the level he is at now, other side of the argument is we don’t need to limit ourselves to 3m as we have the cash.

Not directly linked with O'Riley but Juventus have submitted an improved bid for Koopmeiners. £45m bid with add ons which is likely to be accepted, according to Italian media.

Atalanta probably going to come back in with an improved bid of some sort.

No team has come "anywhere near" Celtic's valuation of Matt O'Riley, Brendan Rodgers has confirmed.

The Danish midfielder, 23, has been subject to interest from clubs across Europe, with Atalanta and Southampton having official transfer bids rejected this far.

Celtic want at least £25million for their prized asset. But it's believed the top offers have been well short of that, with Atalanta proposing £17m.

Speaking with Sky Sports prior to the Scottish Premiership kicking-off this weekend, Rodgers outlined the need for interested clubs to respect the value of the player they will be receiving rather than the league they happen to come from.

And he knows too well how often side’s from more prestigious division will try short change smaller leagues having experienced the opposite end of the coin whilst managing in the English Premier League with Liverpool and Leicester City before pitching up at Celtic for a second spell last summer

It’s actually been straightforward with Matt because he’s such a great professional," said a defiant Rodgers.

"I think what is always the challenge for teams coming to a team like Celtic is that they can place a value on the league and not the player. I’ve already told the club that

We all understand the model here - players will come in and develop. It’s not a club that you have to move on from, but there are riches in other leagues much richer than ours that allow players to go and improve the conditions of their lives.

"We all understand that, but it’s really important that if a player does leave here we are paid for the value of the players, and that’s sometimes something that can not happen.

"Sometimes a value will come in that’s a lot less. I’ve worked in the Premier League, I understand the levels there and the players’ value. No player will leave unless it’s for the right valuation. At this point in time, there’s been no team that’s been anywhere near it."

I think if we really want the lad from Southampton we’ll take just under £25million in return for a smaller fee on Shea Charles. Helping both clubs books instead of a swap + money. A lot of clubs down south now seem to be doing financially separate deals but at the same time as both players go.
