Plus I think I read 29million was the most they've ever paid for a signing

He will be off this summer it is just where and for how much. Atlanta are a cracking club and it would be a good move for him.

At the end of the day though Atalanta are financially wealthy and back in the CL and off a season where they won the Europa league. They will sell Koopmeiners for north of £50m we want £30m for O’Riley or they can bolt.

However you do have one of the best clubs in Europe in the transfer market coming up against one of the hardest to deal with in us. What could go wrong?

Yeah I’m just saying if they’re not willing to pay over say 20 million and he’s pushing for a move to them would we just sell for that and lose out on a possible 10 million?

hopefully it just starts the bidding war off and he gets a good move and we get a good fee

Funny that the Atalanta manager thinks he’s good enough to spend that amount of money on, yet the Danish manager didn’t think he had anything to offer them at the Euros.

These * international managers are making it increasingly harder for us to hold onto our best players. And we’re already up against it.

That won’t happen there would need to be a compromise there. I doubt O’Riley would throw the toys out the pram if we said we can’t accept £20m from there as we have better offers.

The one thing about Atalanta they have a very modest 21,000 seater stadium.

Is 21k ok for the CL? I thought they had a minimum capacity rule?

Tbf, that's the kinda thing we'd do.

Need £10m on as a starting point. Then we negotiate.

£12.7m, *, just tell thrm to * off and never ask for any Celtic player again.

    * morons, if it was some no mark who farted for Man City youth team, he'd be starting bids of £25m.

Absolute joke of a bid from these Italian fuds.

I genuinely wouldn't accept anything less than £30 million, * it.

O'Riley will 100% be offski this summer, but we need to get as much as we can. In saying that, it's not as the board are going to reinvest it into the transfer budget.

Fee needs to be 20-25 million + add-ons, sell-on fees, etc. Don’t think we’re getting 30mil up front, tbh.

With his age , contract situation , our financial situation we really don’t need to sell him this summer . Hold out for the right price or keep for another season his stock will go up again. No panic sales .

Yeah we need to set a precedent our top performers don’t go for less than 25, we showed the way with KT .

Depends on how Matt is feeling.

I suspect he wants to move on and refusing to budge on your value can have a negative impact overall. We need to be cautious with something like that. We don’t want a situation where we have unhappy players in the squad.

Best thing the club can do for clubs who refuse to match the cash valuation is to look to add ons and potentially player exchanges. As I said before, I’d happily take a hit on the fee if Atalanta gave us someone like Bakker, who’s probably worth £6m-£10m.

There's a limit to it though. If we're only getting sub-£20m bids with nothing on top, it'd be irresponsible to sell him. One moody * wanting away you can cope with. It's when multiple players have been wanting away you get * like the 10IAR year where morale and performance is clearly affected.

Of course. I’m not suggesting we accept anything. That’s why I said we need to be cautious over it.

£20m and Bakker would be a good deal, though. Club bags huge cash and we bring in a real top left back.

Atalanta would be a good fit for him. They are a very attack minded side that would play to his strengths. I also think it would be a move that would interest him so he might push for it.

In general, I don't think we will get the much spoken of £30m but more like £20-25m with some add-ons. Atalanta might be able to stretch to the lower end of that if they really want him.
