He’s an absolute quality footballer and personally I have enjoyed so much seeing him play for us. Could see if from day one he was going to go so far in his career. Love his celebrations and passion for us.

I would love him to stay but I can’t see it. Especially if it is top 6 in the EPL or the likes of Inter Milan or Atletico that want to sign him. You are talking about playing top level week in week out at those.

Look at it from his perspective, he isn’t going to go to a Real Madrid, Man City etc so what are you waiting another year for here if some of the teams above are in for you.

I do think we should not be accepting less than £30m though, he is probably the most sellable player we have had to EPL top end given he qualifies as home grown down there for Europe.

He will be away. I’ve no doubt about that. That’s the model. I think we all understand that. We can’t go back to square one though and try and replace him with a player with the same fee we paid for him. That’s where we fall down time and time again as a club. The fees we receive for players have increased, the money we spend to replace them hasn’t.

Wishful thinking that he'll stay another year, he's done it all here and top 6 teams in big leagues are already watching him, another season of spl football isn't going to raise his profile any higher. Think the only question mark is will bids come in early or will he wait til after the euros.

Trouble is, Matt is an exquisite footballer. I genuinely believe he has the ability to play at the top level for any club.
He’s still developing and I don’t think he’s anywhere near his peak yet.
A couple of years in a top league and he’ll be frightening and considering where he’s at already :88:

I think we’d struggle to find another of that quality without spending substantial money and players that are perhaps half way to where Matt is now would already be on the radar of major clubs.

Typically, we sell players to mid to high table clubs then they move up again. Matt is being touted for some top table clubs at this point. That tells us all we need to know about his quality.

He’ll be a huge loss but such is our position in global football and we wish him the best when that time comes.

This 100%. I would even go as far and say that money we earn on sales have incresed, but the money we spend on players have Decreased. Now we spend pennies. A couple of years ago we went on to spend 10 mill on Edouard for example. Now when we are richer than ever probably, we spend coffee money. We will never improve if this dont change.

Now we have a FANTASTIC chance to bury the huns as they will need to rebuild now their players are in the later 50s, but we have had that chance more than once in the last decade and have not yet taken advantage of it. Sure we are dominating, but we could be much further ahead than we are with a bit more ambition. Next year we will play qualifiers against really * good sides and we all how that have went in recent years.

I really genuinely believe he loves playing for Celtic and I think he'll be sad to leave but will know to develop to his true potential he'll need to move on. He'll be a massive loss but his transfer fee should help to find a really decent replacement.

Every top player is always sad to leave us. We and the club create and environment like no other.

however life/money/and career progression in the modern footballing world mean players have to leave to further themselves unfortunately

Not really, he could take the pay bump, cl group matches and go in January. If he's waiting for the RIGHT move, not just A move... Probably won't, but it wouldn't be fatal to him either...

I think he'd be mental to stay. His money will double if he goes, he'll develop in a better league and a CL club could easily come in for him. Atletico already did so he doesn't need to be here.

Perfect time for the club to cash in too, his value might never be as high again . Poor form or injury and its hindsight like Ntcham or boyata.
