We actually have O’Riley’s replacement in the palm of our hand. Bernardo. But that’s the summer agenda.

Then Holm should step up and take Bernardo’s place as the main rotation option.

So McGregor, Hatate, Bernardo going forward with Holm on the bench and Iwata or a new CDM for balance.

But Matt is flying. If he see’s this season out and we win his season will go down as one of the best, he will have more options for a move too. Can’t lose him mid-season.

 

Realistically, Matt will has a fairly decent chance of winning the champions league with this move. Taking the green tinted specks off I don't think he can miss the opportunity. What a * nightmare.

McGregor, Bernardo and Hatate is still a * excellent midfield btw, but O'Riley has that extra bit of magic over all of them that has been vital all season.

If this goes through you're looking at someone like McTominay to ensure we're replacing him properly. A big * ask.

 

What better options in reality will he have than Madrid?

I've seen suggestions before like giving him a big transfer fee to compensate for a drop in salary, but don't know how common or even feasible that is. Would take something out of the ordinary definitely, but I feel like this would be a step too far letting him go.
