I’m not sure that we could tbh mate, if it’s on a player that’s done it and will raise our level to a CL level? Well probably won’t be that price, will probably go elsewhere to a CL level team in a better league like Turkey, France, Portugal etc.

If they aren’t that level, whats the point in signing them?

Young players with a very high potential that can do the business here and now is the way to do it. Like we did with Eddy and Jota.

The players with a few seasons of consistent form will be swiped up by even the bottom EPL teams who can offer wages that would break our wage structure many times over. Anyone we're going to be spending decent money on will realistically have to be a "project" to some degree. Even Jota had a * season in Spain before we signed him on loan, we won't get that try-before-you-buy offer too often.

That and who honestly are probably not good enough to raise the level high enough for us. How much do you think it’d cost to buy a Ryan Christie right now?

Not sure I'd class this guy as a project or punt in the dark either. He's had two and half seasons in a very decent league and the experience of carrying that team for part of it (top assister and chance creator in the league this year). On top of that he's had a good number of u-21 caps with a strong nation and has an impressive scoring record at that level.

Sure, he's young, but he's nothing like some of the other punts.

Guys of this profile are both mate, a young project we view as an outstanding prospect that will be a real success for us week in week out as a first team player.

Abada was the last we have had with that profile, but going back to the likes of Eddy, Moussa and even Van Dijk that was that profile. Young outstanding options for the here and now, by no means the finished article, high sell on value but first and foremost improves the team majorly.

I don’t know if this guy is that quality, I can’t say I’ve watched him for even a single 90 minutes but it fits that profile for me at his age, and the reported fee and the length of time he has clearly been on our radar.

Aye I'd agree with all that. He definitely seems to be i that bracket of signing. Not sure I'd call him a project though despite him obviously having room for development, just because of how "project" is normally used (slightly pejoratively). And definitely not a punt, I mean he's a punt insofar as any signing is, but that's obviously not how we normally use the term.

Anyway, the *'s not even signed. But I'll be very pleased if this goes ahead.

Aye not a project in the terms we use derisively towards young guys we sign, we as fans or maybe just on here tbf not seen much of it outwith this forum, hate the term project or work in progress and use it soley towards the guys deemed not good enough.

Whereas for me it’s just guys you know you can coach into a higher level, two of the biggest ‘projects’ that had that patter aimed at them at first were Wanyama and Ajer.

One thing for sure though, Celtic and our board don’t have a ‘punt’ on a player for £8m or so. Especially when we went in for him 6 months previously and nearly got him for less before the goalposts were moved on the deal.

We have been watching him for a long time if we’re this willing to not only dish out the fee without a loan or something first, and over two different transfer windows. We’ll have been working on it a lot longer than you’d guess, similar to how we got Moussa. We were talking to him for about 8 months before he signed ‘out the blue’

There's another 21 yr old ST playing in the Superliga with double the amount of goals as this boy...... Alexander Lind.....why aren't we looking at him?

    Who knows we might be.

They are two very different types of player.

Alexander Lind is more your classic number 9 striker, he can play with his back to goal coming a bit deeper but mainly thrives in and around the box. Although this season is the first time he’s really been in the goals and his performances have dropped of a bit after a strong start to the season.

Silkeborg who he plays with has developed a good few players lately or helped revive careers.

Kvistgaard, is more of a versatile forward, I honestly think we were keen on him in the summer to play as a winger in Rodgers system where it’s more about getting in the box and close to the striker. As someone else pointed out he has been more creative this season in his play but watching him, he seems a bit of a live wire, kind of all energy type player. He is pretty quick, works hard both on and off the ball, attacks the 6 yard box, quite a direct player, who isn’t always that clinical in front of goal to be the man leading the line. He tends to play in a team with a target man/ more out and out striker.

They would probably work quite well together.

Somebody I know who is 50/50 on if heMs talking * or is spot on, who I know does know * in the club as well, but a bushitter seemed rather adamant that this is a load of * and we’ve moved on, because he and his club * us off in the summer.

Like I said, could be bullshit cos he does that but I know he does find out * as well. He’s quite annoying

So he's not an out and out striker? If we go for him then, think he maybe takes up the main striker role just while our guys are away at the asian cup, then ends up on the right of the front three, with Abada probably away in the next couple of windows?

Looking at his stats, his style, where he’s played mostly I’m starting to get a wee bit worried it’s a Kyogo replacing in advance….

No. I haven't. Perhaps you should read what I write and then measure your replies.

I've never said spending was a problem, I said what we spend it on was. Ie. Paying 10 odd million for 4 * players rather than 1 or 2 good ones.

And no one's "greeting". Im not gonna * myself into a coma over a price tag when that money could be well spent elsewhere. 8m for this guy would be atrocious business. We could get two players at his level for that.

If I’ve mixed ye up with somebody else apologies I thought it was you that I was debating with the other day that was unhappy that Eddy is the only player we’ve had over £8m and we loaned him first. And we needed to spend bigger on players rather than smaller amounts on several.

I think players are definitely out there for those fees. Even someone slightly above Palma. He had a couple seasons of double figures assists and goals and was 4.5m less than you're maybe talking for this guy.

I think its a lot. Every transfer carries its own risk totally get that.

I think at this stage I have PTSD from us wasting money.

Those are outstanding stats for a young player. Very surprised anyone isn't excited about this.

Honestly mate, I couldn’t give a single * about what the fees are, no like it’s stopped us from collecting £70m odd in the * bank.

He is actually having a really good game at the moment, he has scored 2 nice goals, hopefully won't be enough to keep Brøndby in the cup though
