Speaking of things developing fast, Celtic are ready to ramp up their hunt for Kyogo's replacement with move for Danish striker Mathias Kvistgaarden, although Brondby's huge asking price could prove a stumbling block.
The 22-year-old has long been on the agenda at Parkhead and was heavily linked 12 months ago but a fee couldn't be agreed with Brondby at that time. The Hoops instead signed Adam Idah on loan, and made the move permanent, with Kvistgaarden going on the back burner. But his impressive scoring form has kept up and it looks as if the time may finally be right.

Shortly after Celtic's win over Young Boys, it emerged on Wednesday night that Kyogo is closing in on a move to Rennes with the Hoops set to bank £10m for the 30-year-old. Jota, it's claimed, could be heading in the other direction on loan, but isn't a direct replacement and that would leave Brendan Rodgers with cash to burn on another out and out No.9 to compete with Adam Idah and Johnny Kenny

The Scottish Sun are reporting that long-term target Kvistgaarden is the man they want – but Record Sport understand Brondby want €16m (£13.5m) for his services which could prove a major stumbling block. He's also being eyed by Eintracht Frankfurt, who just sold Omar Marmoush to Manchester City, so Brondby know they are in a strong bargaining position

It's likely Celtic would be willing to reinvest the bulk of any fee banked for Kyogo, particularly if it landed them a younger option with future sell-on value. But whether they'd be willing to go that high remains to be seen

Kvistgaarden is thought to be keen on the move and there are suggestions he could be ready to force it if Brondby don't want to sell. He's scored 14 goals in 22 appearances this season and would represent an astute signing

We went to 11m for Engels.

Just take the 10m for Kyogo and hand it to them with some bonuses up to say £14m.

I think I'd pay it at this point. Even if it means spending less this summer. I think the reality is if we had Kvistgaarden, Idah and Kenny as our three strikers we'd be pretty set for next season. If KT and Jota came in too this window, I don't think we'd need a lot in the summer.

If people are worried about annual spend limits, clubs can be creative with accounting etc so if we didn't spend it next summer it could easily match up.

Would be bringing in that boy at Dundee if we don't get anyone this window outside Jota, looks excellent.

I know what they are reporting but I doubt it would take that much to sign him from Brondby, they require to sell a player for a decent fee, as they run at a deficit without European football and they failed to qualify this year via the qualifiers.

Although like Engels they will know we are in need.

I wouldn't be spending 13.5 million on him hes having a decent season but that's a huge outlay on someone scoring in the Danish league.

Lyon paid Nordjaelland £25m for Ernest Nuamah, who was 19 and had played one season for them. Denmark clubs do demand big fees if players are successful

The Danish league is probably better than ours outside us and the huns, and even then Copenhagen have been far better than us in recent years in Europe.

We're getting £10 million for Kyogo, got £5 million for Bernabei and will probably get £2 million for Palma, that likely pays for Jota and Kvistgaarden and it still wouldn't touch our reserve.

If we had a 22 year old homegrown striker with his record, having only played in Scotland, what would you be asking for?

I really wanted him, but more as a winger than out and out striker, but I wouldn’t pay anywhere near that amount. I’m not convinced they’ll get that much.

Pay the money! Danish league decent level & he has 10 goals & 4 Assist in 15 appearances. Having watched him a few times he would be one that is exciting.

Copenhagen sold a young 20 yr old striker to Real Soceidad for 20 mill and he's having a bit of a dire season. We've already spent 9 mill on Idah and he's struggling....all I'm saying is it's a risk YouTube videos never show a compilation of the player having a shiter, Hope I'm wrong like if we do get him but I'd rather celtic go and get someone like Marc Guiu at Chelsea with a loan to buy

Are we in need though? We have a good team and there are plenty of options out there when you are willing to spend around £8m.

To me they’re pricing themselves out and if I was the player I’d be a bit concerned the club are taking the *.

Now is not the time to be penny pinching, pay the money if it's thought he will be worth the outlay.

Not 13.5 mill anyway his first 3 seasons he never got into double figures...who knows he might thrive in a better side but the fee being asked is too much imo

Exactly & Kvistgardeen is way ahead of that young Icelandic striker too.

Pay the money and get him in. He looks a great prospect and is already good enough to play for our first team.
