We've had two years to bid for him again and we havent. So for whatever reason we lost interest

 

Was obvious we missed the boat..

Aye i think we had to go for him in the summer, shame as I think he'd be perfect in this system.

You could see clear as day his attributes and trajectory was going all the way..

Now going immediately to a top level club in an elite league. Will likely start straight away as well..

Frustrating. He could've been bedded in to be our Kyogo replacement. No just that but he had the versatility as well..

 

I mean, we monitored his situation for best part of 2 years i don't know what else you can expect from Celtic? Some fans are so entitled these days.

 

As much as I agree with you in an ideal world; it’s just not always that easy.

Hypothetically, if the player has doubts about a move to Scotland being the best next step for him, he’ll at the very least want some level of guarantee of gametime. We can’t really give that with Kyogo still in the building. In fact, from the outside looking in, we have a £8.5m striker who we signed in the summer who has spent most of the time since warming the bench which doesn’t really go in our favour.

 

But he would've had plenty..

He's played loads on the wings..

Look at us now for example. No real backup right winger. Kuhn been out for games. No good enough backup left wingers. Maeda also out for a couple games. Strikers mixed up a bit..

He would have had plenty game time because of his versatility alone. Nevermind the fact he's quality and a real threat..

 

Again, I don’t disagree with you. I’ve been quite vocal that I think we need a few quality and versatile additions to give our squad some real quality depth and he seems to fit the bill.

I have no idea if this lad considers himself a striker and wants away from the “versatile” tag like many do though. Again, that’s theoretically something that might not go in our favour if we are saying to him that he’d play right across our front line and someone like Frankfurt view him solely as a striker.

It’s hard to know the ins and outs and sometimes it’s easy to just point the finger at the club. The fact we’ve been in touch regarding him for so long though, definitely suggests his agent at least suggested the lad had some interest in coming here. So from that angle at least the club’s reluctance to pull the trigger and make a deal happen does look bad.

 

Brilliant monitoring from us in the last two years. Well worth it.

 

We’ll be monitoring players like him all the time, over time.

We won’t sign most of them.
