You don't pay 9 mil for a permanent number 2 striker. It's got to be the plan that he is promoted to first choice, and anyone else coming in will be behind him in the pecking order

He's been doing lots, without getting the finishes, in recent weeks - possibly because it would have been known behind the scenes that kyogo would be going soon, possibly just as he finally began properly gelling into the team and style...

I'm loathe to give credit for the absolute wondrous fluke of that goal, but his work rate and ethic in the game were good, and I'd happily give that credit - he forced it, and I reckon the other player (hatate?) coming in behind gets it anyway if defender doesn't knock it in, so who cares...

Financial returns on his goals last year helping secure a cup and the league points for the cl qualification, and this year, I'd agree he's returned his fee in spades, even with the irony of agreeing with others that we overpaid for him...

 

I think it's too early yet to say if we overpaid for him... If he'd continued with start of season form it'd be a grey area over value of return versus quantity.

On a financial note, he's already well in the black on important returns.

If recent return becomes the norm, he'll be remembered as a steal...

 

Better to have 2 quality strikers fighting it out on be first pick. There's easily enough game time and injuries can happen.

 

Exactly, Idah got plenty of minutes while Kyogo was here, you cant bank on your striker being fit all season and even tho the past 2 games Idah has scored goals I still don’t think Rodgers will see him as his out and out number 1 striker.
