some places he's listed as a midfielder, some places he's descibed as a winger, what is he ? Does he have speed a la Agathe (hopefully better technique in crossing) or is he a midfielder and if so does this mean we are open to offers for Naka? Need clarification on this!!!!

Yes I found it Donati is not a winger he is a defensive midfielder so I don't know where winger came from.

So why would we also want deveccio too Is he not a defensive midfielder too. Would seem a bit of a luxury given that we have sno as cover already for the lenny position.

Been keeping very close tabs on Celtic since I retired in 2000, this is terrific the way those running Celtic are operating to me, even if by some odd, remote, and obscure reason Celtic dont win the SPL this coming season it wont be from lack of talent and verygood signings! :50:

heres what the papers sayDonati dubbed new Di Canio 23/06/07 Celtic fans have welcomed the signing of Massimo Donati - and hope he will be the new Paolo Di Canio. The acquisition of Donati, who has agreed a four-year deal and should join from AC Milan for £3million next week, will no doubt capture the imagination of the Parkhead faithful, with the last Italian to have a major impact in the east end of Glasgow the popular and controversial Di Canio, who earned cult status back in season 1996-97.And Peter Rafferty, President of the Affiliation of Celtic Supporters' Clubs, said: "If Donati does as well as Di Canio did, it will be a real bonus for Celtic and can only be a good thing for the club."Celtic's run in the Champions League last year came to an end at the hands of eventual winners AC Milan after extra-time in the last 16 of the competition. And Rafferty believes the signing of Donati can only boost Celtic's chances of progressing even further in Europe in the season ahead. He said: "Donati is a very, very good acquisition. He's a top-class player with plenty of experience in Serie A and he will be a good addition to Celtic's squad."We did particularly well getting to the last 16 of the Champions League last year and we would be hoping to at least repeat that again, if not do even better."Donati's experience will also be important in the SPL, but especially in the Champions League, and it was important to buy someone with experience of playing on the continent for those games."

Great news. Quality finding it's way to Celtic Park again.
    Just read this on soccernet:

Donati began his career at Atalanta before a £10million deal took him to the San Siro in 2001. In recent seasons he has had loan spells at a number of Serie A clubs, including Parma, Torino and Sampdoria, and last season was a regular for Atalanta. Celtic have reportedly beaten off strong competition from Palermo, Sampdoria and Atalanta for the signature of Donati and his capture is seen as a coup for the Glasgow giants.

Donati is an attacking midfilder and started his career at Atalanta, and moved to AC Milan in 2001 for €15 million.
However, due to the competition at the club, Donati was unable to claim a first team place, spending the 2002-03 season on loan at Parma and Torino respectively.
In fact, much of his Milan career has been spent at other Italian clubs.
His second season (2003-04 season) at the San Siro saw him join Sampdoria on loan, before enjoying a successful spell at Messina for the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons.
Despite finding his form at Messina, Donati still found himself out of favour at Milan, and was sent again on loan for the 2006-2007 season, this time to his first club Atalanta.
In early June 2007, it was rumoured in various sports and media publications that Donati had been targetted by Scottish champions Celtic. This rumour was confirmed by his agent on June 18, when he stated that Donati was travelling to Glasgow for signing talks. On June 23 Celtic confirmed the signing of Massimo Donati on a 4 year contract subject to a medical.[1] 'Mon the Tali tim!!
