Martinez for Celtic

I think we are showing a lack of ambition if we get a untried manager with no euro managerial experiance and has not won a major trophy.

I would like to see someone like Leo Beenhakker here if it wasnt gonna be Davie Moyes

Just heard on the radio that the chairman of Swansea has rejected are offer or something for Martinez.

Guess its going to be Mcghee then.

 

McGhee has been my least favourite candidate from the beginning. Hopefully not him.

The interview with the Swansea chairman says he'd reject any move but conceded its really dwn to what Martinez wants. They aint going to hold him against his will. Says he's on holiday just now weighing up his options.

 

Not anything new since this morning

 

He is not letting any club speak to him untill he speaks to Martinez himself when he comes back his holiday on Wed.

Quote from the chairman himself - refusing the opportunity to let us speak to Martinez until the Swansea management have spoken to him themselves.

Shall leave thread open just in case there happens to be a startling new revelation, but the above quote is where we stood up until this afternoon.

You might have a point there.

To be honest I wish more people would 'blab' as it least it gives us an idea what is going on and who the board are genuinely looking at.

 

There are two ways to look at that news link, one is, great he might not be interested and will not come. The second is that we cannot even attract a Championship manager that is working with a team that is not even in the top 5, we could be up the proverbial without a paddle here lads..................

 

I highy doubt that mate, if as a chairman you are satisfied with your manager you are hardly going to want to further increase interest in him by shouting from the rooftops that someone is in for him. You want people NOT to be looking at your managers availability.

 

He's only being fair to his manager in making him aware that there is interest there. He said he assured Roberto Martinez that he would keep him up to speed with all enquiries and he's obviously going to let Roberto Martinez decide which clubs he wishes to speak to.

At the same time he knows it increases his own clubs profile. It's good publicity for them

 

Maybe the Swansea chairman is hoping that Celtic and Wigan will get into a bidding war for Martinez. He played for Wigan for a few years and it looks like they'll be needing a manager.

 

Wont happen, he'll go to Wigan.

 

the Huns on their forums and some of my mates are really * themselves at the thought of us getting Martinez. Seems to be the only one we've been linked with that they rate. I personally don't know much about him, so I can't say.

Saying nothing else than their chairman expecting (read; hoping) Martínez will stay at Swansea City.

Nothing is going to happen till the guy is back from his holiday but hopefully we stay clear.
