The board have an absolute nightmare here in realistically appointing someone (albeit by their own doing).

I'm struggling to keep up with the names, but a few of the managers mentioned I know very very little about short of little media articles I've been trying to catch up on. I only know Mowbray from Hibs, I know nothing of Coyle (who the BBC had basically decided had the job in the bag) and nothing of Martinez.

All of the managers in the frame (so far) are inexperienced at title-challening level and Champions League Level.. well apart from Rijkaard but he's surely not a possibility. Saying that Bilic has experienced of picking a team from an almost unchangeable squad of a mix of fairly average and top top players, in an environment where they were underdogs. He's had great results with it, but the first Croatia 11 is pretty * good.

I feel a rare bit of pity for the board.

Only mentioned it because we had been linked with Gomez before, and now we are linked with Martinez i thought it would be likely he would go back for some of his more successful players at Swansea :50:

At the end of the day Martinez could also interest Wigan who he once played for....I read he has a good relationship with there owner.....They will be looking for someone now that Bruce's move is almost finalised. Wigan could interest him if he sees his career as being in the EP. Just a thought.

yeah i've said before that just because we've asked to speak to him doesn't mean he's gonna want the job

I have followed Swansea a little bit as I've made a bit of money betting on them during the last couple of years.

Martinzez is young, successful, and his sides play football the Celtic Way.

    What's no' tae like?

I dont mind a very young manager as long as they have had the experience of top flight football.

I dont know how Martinez could get us through the CL qualifiers when he's never experienced such a level.....ever!

I think there's too much made of the Cult of the Manager. Ultimately, they're a figurehead on which to heap blame, if things aren't going well. I'll judge him on his signings and what he can get out of the existing squad, if he is named.

I see your point too gary,,every league (pretty much) has two clubs bigger than the rest in our case us and the huns and we have the best sqaud of players imo,we just need a manager who is capable of getting the best out of them..Imo a managers experience does not garuantee success,, plg being the prime example..I really believe that roberto martinez is destined for the top and only time will tell,,he is a gamble im willing to take more so than an journeyman manager..

i'm sure the press will be scrambling to get over and ruin his holiday by continually asking him what he's gonna do.
