    Real Madrid youngster Martin Ødegaard will spend pre-season training with the Real Madrid first team, however, the Norwegian youngster’s agent Tore Pederson insists that doesn’t spell the end of Celtic’s hopes of a loan move.
    Hoops boss Ronny Deila, who Ødegaard played under at Strømsgodset, has made a loan offer for the player and Pederson has told Norwegian broadcaster TV2: “A loan is still relevant.” (InsideFutbol)

    This , along with alot of the other transfer threads should be closed . Ronny has completely rubbished this , and practically made a mockery of the very notion . Thread should have been closed at that point . The Gary Hooper thread/rumour has absolutely no links to any relevant recent media and is just a complete waste of time and should have been closed and the chat moved to player suggestions , same with that Mcgeady thread. Once these "rumours" go cold , the threads should be closed or at least left alone . Bumping them 11 days later with " I think he would be a good signing " etc etc , is a major part of the problem . Transfer rumours section of this site is becoming a mess and is not functioning in the way it should - too much tenious chat .

    No, it shouldn't be shut.

    His future hasn't been decided yet indefinitely so in theory he could still come here. What is the point in shutting it? Is it really affecting your lives that much? :56:

    Go down all the transfer threads on this page and most of them have been dead for weeks however they are still open as news can come any day.

    Until he either signs for someone else onloan or Madrid completely quash the idea of sending him out it will be open.

    I also wouldn't read alot into what Deila said. Not the first time a manager has rubbished being linked with a player. He was also only denying the recent rumours, how do we know that he isn't interested once pre-season is finished? We don't.

    It doesn't take a genius to realise that we are most likely interested. A Norwegian wonderkid, who Deila nurtured, available for loan, connections with his father..it's hardly impossible.

    It's just making this part of the site very unuseful and annoying for alot of members . Checking the rumour thread and seeing threads are bumped/active only to go and see that it is just people discussing a players attributes rather than any developments on a rumour is becoming really tedious. People are still at it in the Mcgeady thread ( it was started in January and the original source was Twitter ). All that chat should be moved to player suggestions. This part of the site used to be like a genuine transfer update centre , was alot more concise and folk posted in a business like manner . Now people come in here and just procrastinate about rumours that have gone cold or that were started on blogs/twitter. Trying to second guess the manager and saying " in theory " we might get this player or that player is just nonsense - lets just update people on the latest developments and try and keep this part of the site used for its intention of dealing with reputable media reports and quotes from the club . If you have to try and sales pitch a rumour in your own words to give it validity you know it's probably a non starter ( as you did here - "It doesn't take a genius to realise that we are most likely interested.     Ps "in theory ", there are alot of players who could technically come here . The burden is on you to prove there is anything in a rumour , not on everyone else to disprove it .

    I think you're seriously romanticizing this forum. To my mind, it has only ever been like that when there is actual news progressing. The time in between has always been filled with opinion and hearsay. For the most part, that's what a forum is for. If you don't like it, skim past it.
