Gravesen was past his best by the time he got here.

Hardly any comparisons to be made between Odegaard and Gravesen apart from the fact that they have both played for Madrid.

Maybe Madrid are waiting to see if we make the CL before they think about sending him here.

Aye, Gravesen WAS a Real Madrid player who was on the decline when he joined us.

Odegaard is and WILL be a Real Madrid player if he joins us.

My sources tell me he won't leave on a loan deal before 10th August, at any rate.

Most likely, he'll stay in Spain (Getafe, Rayo, etc.)

You're actually arguing that signing Gravesen signing didn't increase interest in Celtic or get peoples attention?

Are you aware that the number of users online on talkceltic on the day that Gravesen signed is the highest number this site has ever had?

The post I replied to stated that people would be mad not to take Odengaard considering he was a Real Madrid player, so it was the only direct comparison to be made to that statement.

See above as to why I said it.

And you make it souns like we're signing a fully fledged Madrid first teamer, which we're not.

    Um.. okay.

    The post you replied to:

The post is making an argument in favour of the loan deal based on the global stature of Real Madrid and the players reputation within the club, insisting that the publicity the deal will bring to Celtic would be a massive boost to both us and the game in Scotland in general.

    Your reply:

You're retort was that Thomas Gravesen was a Real Madrid player, insinuating that he didn't raise the profile of Celtic or Scottish football and therefore the possible benefits of the loan which Shane1888 had discussed aren't necessarily a given simply due to the fact that the boy plays for one of the biggest teams in the world and is one of the most talked about and highly paid youngsters in world football.

I then replied that the Gravesen signing was a massive boost to Celtic's profile, backed up with stats from this website showing a huge increase in traffic following the transfer.

Ashame we didnt get Gauld before he went to sporting. Deila would have worked wonders with him like he did with Odegaard
