A good few posts in this thread pretty much sum up what is wrong with Scottish football.

    "He's not strong enough"

    "Not enough of an 'engine'"

This is the reason why Jack Harper will probably go on to play for the Spanish youth teams and not ours.

Yeah, Johansen, Ødegaard, Elabdellaoui for me in that order. Ødegard will be better than Johansen in a year or two at the pace he's developing but Johansen is still our most important player.

Nonsense, no one is saying he's not good enough. At 16 he's just not yet the player he will be, but that's completely normal. The issue is whether it makes sense to bring in another player in that position on loan when we already have a lot of players there and a player like Henderson cant get game time. Every one would have absolutely loved it if we could have signed him permanently

Does anyone know exactly how much this kid is getting paid?
Obviously 80k is what was mentioned but is that from week one or is it a wage that he will gradually work up to by the last year of his contract or what?

If we did manage to get him on loan, I wonder how much of his wages we'd cover?!Even if it's 30-40% of 80k that would make him our highest wage earner.

I wouldn't be surprised if Madrid covered his full wage or very close to it. The fact of is he good enough or not is almost second to the fact the publicity the club would gain just by taking him for a year.

AS says it's 15k in £. And that's the most "legit" take on his salary I've come across.

Reading this morning he is keen to join us for his loan, it's on givemesport.com and they say it's Spanish media reporting it ? Anyone know if this is true ? Would be excellent for us, great player in the making.

I think Ronny would not let this happen if he thought it would destabilise what he is doing and that this young player will add to our progress even if its that our own young players get to see what is possible with hard work and talent.

Ronny said in the past that he didn't think he would walk into the team! I can't remember if that was before we got MS & SA respectively, so I don't understand this Unless ronny told a fib to keep us happy. Strange!

Make it happen. Don't get peoples gripe with bringing him in? One of the worlds most highly-rated young players who plays for Real Madrid and people say they don't want him here? There's nothing bad to come from it in my eyes. I'm sure the first team players at Celtic won't be against it either, maybe some of the youth players might, but that should encourage them to do even better to aspire to someone like Ødegaard.

Tbf I think the engine comment was mine, and it was sarcasm.

I'd love this boy to come here. He's exciting, has an eye for a pass, speed of thought, general game awareness and skills that get you up out your seat. His age is incidental to me.

I'd be happy for my club to be a part of his development. If that squeezes Stuart Armstrong or James Forrest out the team then tough *.

As far as physicality goes, I seem to remember Ryan Gauld doing alright for himself.

Doubt this will happen anyway. If the likes of Villarreal are interested they can offer him more than we can in terms of development.

I would be happy to see him on loan here, Ronny would get the best out of him having already brought him through the ranks in Norway. At 16 he needs to grow up fast and get some experience at a high level, he's too young to be at Madrid, needs to go on loan for a few years.
Madrid have had great young players but never given them a chance, Morata for example and now that Jese Rodriguez, just ruining young players careers like Chelsea as well.

    This!

Gauld is half the size of Odegaard but if you have that awareness and speed of thought u can be five steps ahead of anybody else on the pitch. These types of players can see things others will just never see while on or off the ball. Odegaard is gauld on speed, there is no eay we should not take him if we get the chance.

I wasn't referring to anyone saying he wasn't good enough.

Watched bit of Norway game last night, boy is well built not slender by any means but Azerbaijan sat in like most SPFL teams do and he looked quiet ineffective one amazing pass though but that was it.

Yeah, he was anonymous in the 1st half. He's better when the opponent is tired, I really dont think he'd improve us at this point.
