Reports in norway say it is az alkmaar!

Not really that disapointed... Whenever ive seen him, he plays quite deep (similar to ki) which is not what we need.

Struggling to see the hype here. Not rated by his own fans and only attracting interest from the likes of Brugge and AZ Alkmaar. Apart from being good on FM, what evidence does anyone here have that he would improve us?

I actually think that he is a decent player. I would very much like to see him in the hoops, to be honest. I have seen him play a few times and he has been quite impressive. I wouldn't say that he is going to be the next Ronaldo or Messi (quite obviously) but I definitely think that he has the talent to get into the Celtic first team and to stay there too.

He seems like a bag of tricks and his vision and creativity seems quite good also. Personally, I think that he could come and do a job for Neil Lennon and co. With all that has been said in this thread though, I am beginning to lose hope that he will get to sign him. That said, I certainly wouldn't turn up my nose at him. By all accounts, he seems to be one of the best footballers in Norway.

Out of interest, do you think we're better or worse than those teams?

Hopefully worse, bearing in mind we are ranked 63rd while Alkmaar are 49th and Brugge 61st!

To say "on a par" when including likely coefficient bump this season is, I think, a fair assessment.

I doubt Brugge or AZ have any midfielders that would make our team. Maybe Beerens. Henriksen might improve them but I'd rather play Twardzik.

Silly me. I guess that means that a second-tier Spanish team are rightfully 37 places ahead of Napoli too?

Edit: We're better than Dortmund too apparently!

The fact that Lennon has been quite vocal in wanting this guy at the club says it all,was the same with Kayal,izzy,matthews....
He seen something in them that others dont.

That uefa ranking mean absolutely * all. Do you seriously believe that fulham deserve to be 16 places ahead of dortmund. The old rangers are in 50th place for * sake. The rankings system is a joke

According to that we're better than Dortmund. Nonsense.

Edit: And Portsmouth are better than Rennes, Rosenberg, Heerenveen and Utrecht.

Now now, no need to get snippy!:50:

Looking at UEFA stats - to suggest we are some form of master stroke in comparison to the two teams in question would appear to be pish, is all i'm saying.

Also, if you would be confident going in to a home and away tie against either outfit, bearing in mind we are apparently markedly better, may I suggest that perhaps you are being a tad over-confident!

EDIT - Dortmund stat is a fine one to use - however, also look at them over the last 2 years then - and then look at us over the last 2 years...and then Brugge / Alkmaar.

Dortmund? Miles ahead. Us and the other 2? Hrmm - different story I am afraid.

Well Dortmund being a 'master stroke' compared to us would also appear to be pish going by 'UEFA stats.' :56:

I'm not confident going into any European tie but I believe our quality of player is superior. And I don't want Henriksen.

You brought Dortumnd in to it - fine, I say. Look at it from the last 2 years then, or even the last 1!

I mean, Alkmaar got to the QF of Europa only last season beating the same Udinese team that we did not. As such, to suggest we are markedly better simply does not factually compute!

    "Does not factually compute." :56:

Wigan beat Man Utd last season - I guess that makes them 'factually' better. We were actually a last-minute denied stonewall penalty away from beating Udinese anyway. AZ also lost quality players over the summer like Rasmus Elm.

Anyway, my point is that if Henriksen was the super-star people seem to think he is without having seen him play there must be something (other than FM) that is making them think that way. Yet all I see is a player wanted by middling teams (which in itself doesn't make him a middling player) and divisive of his own fanbase (a team that is markedly worse than ours.) So what is it that makes people want him so much?
