Mark Wilson

I cant believe that Samaras was given a 3 contract whilst Willo only a 1 year extension!!! For me he is the best Right Back in the country, since getting his injury free run in the team he has been outstanding. A willing attacker, great crosser and fantastic pace and desire to get back and defend. On top of a goal against the huns he has been a revelation. I would like to see him tied up to a longer contract also.

 

I think hes excellent.

I also think Lenny thinks highly of him, he made him captain for a lot of pre season and is the captain if Big Dan and Brooney are out.

Also that goal that killed papac and put the huns out :icon_mrgreen:

 

As much as i don't like to say it, I think his days could be numbered. He has definitley lost at least a yard of pace, when he runs he looks as if he's about 45. It's a real shame, as he had a good season last year, unfortunately his injuries and operations have * him imo.

thought he was absolutely dire today, worst player on the pitch, gave the ball away far too much, and his crossing was terrible... Same as wednesday night, thought his lack of pace was showing him up, griffiths was getting in behind too easily.

Right back should most definitley be Adam Matthews' position now.

And i hope one day Mark willo is offered some sort of role at celtic, a great wee man, and deserves some appreciation.

sorry to have a rant on him, it's just how i feel, think his days are numbered.

 

He's not had a good season at all and quite rightly been dropped for Matthews at times.

However I've seen Mark play for a number of years now, even when he was a young lad at Dundee United. I think there is a huge confidence thing with him too and with the way the whole defence has been playing lately it's hard for any of them to be confident.

One thing about him though is he will always give 100% for the shirt, great season last year, hard time this year but I don't think that player we know is gone yet, just wait until Emilio is back and hopefully we can get back to the full backs working their magic.

 

He is Celtic, through & through and even if he is having a bad day he will put in 100% - Can't ask any more than that. Not every fullback can be like Danny McGrain, up & down the park & Wilson is still the best defensive RB we have at the club.

 

i hate this whole, "he puts in 100% effort" thing to describe players... yes i know he does, but unfortunately i dont think his 100% effort he puts in is good enough for us this season. Adam Matthews is absolutely 100% better than Mark Wilson and should be playing there.

The same argument is used for Loovens, "he puts in 100%" aye, he does, but he's still *.

 

I agree that Matthews deserves to be playing regularly, but I would say that until Izzy comes back, Matthews should be playing on the left & when that happens then switch him to the right.

 

i don't think so mate, Matthews should be playing in his best, most natural position - right back, he's the strongest candidate for the position... and for the moment El Kaddouri, who is a natural leftback, albeit not as good as izzy, but better than matthews at left back. Then we have a natural back 4, who are not out of position.

 

That's what I think too, I think he should be playing right back. We got a left back in on loan especially to play so it all seems a bit silly.

Playing players out of position is not helping the situation at all.

 

Overall I would rather have 11 inferior players giving 100% and failing than 11 superior players not giving 100% and failing

At the end of the day you may fail but at least you've tried your hardest

 

Unfortunatley players who aren't as good, trying their hardest doesn't necessarily win you trophies..

that's your opinion fair enough, but i'd prefer 11 players who have the ability to win us a title.

anyway, adam matthews puts in a lot of hardwork.

 

He was poor today

I think Lennon said that he needs surgery again so he is battling through the pain right now

I can't wait for Izzy to get back so we can have him & Matthews at full back

 

He must stay at the club because he is one of the emblems of the first team

 

He needs an operation for his knee. Unfortunately with Izaguirre out, this will have to wait for a spell.

Wilson is playing through an injury just now as we are short of options - he isn't finished, he just needs an op. He's still quite young and he is a solid football player - I wouldn't be so hasty in wishing his removal.

 

His pace has dropped alarmingly and he is getting caught out left, right and centre!

Should only be starting if we have no other options!

 

Have never been a fan of Wilson, always thought of him as a decent squad player to have but never as a first team regular. Matthews has a bundle of potential and maybe needs to work on a few things but should be given the nod ahead of wilson as he will only get better with every game
