He's never going to be a good player. Can't control the ball properly and can't shoot.

He cost the same as probably the entire Hibs or Dundee Utd squad, pretty expensive really. But he was awful at west brom too, any big strong striker can look half useful in the Premier League tho (Jason Scotland is doing ok at Wigan, but he didn't set the first division alight at St Johnstone. Hasn't had to adapt his game at all as he can rely on strength in both leagues.)

The writing was on the wall for all to see from day one with this guy if anyone looked at his past scoring ratio. Even at West Brom i didn't see enough to say this guy would be good enough at Celtic & to bag the goals at the same time. Time for Celtic & Mowbrey to admit he is a dud and get rid in January, Take the loss we all know is going to happen here.

We should now be concentrating on finding a better goal scorer for the next winodw and get him in before it's too late. Even Samaras is getting on my goat as well and he is another we should just let go. The fans used to moan about JVH but at least he could put the ball in the * net.

I just don't see it at all. His first touch is woeful as is his passing and control of the ball. No way a attacker thats for sure. Not for Celtic anyway.

he is good at what he does bar scoring and as said before mowbray never bought him as an out and out striker lets see if we get a decent striker in to compliment him in jan and few other players.

jury is out but he aint been here long enough to judge, larsson never played well in his first ten games what a legend he became, give the guy a chance, its the players that have not performed over the years that we should be more concerned about, like all the tripe strachan bought

Tony Mowbray spent £3.8million on Fortune'e so he was his big summer signing and if he turned his back on him already he'd be leaving himself wide open to even more criticism. At this point we do not know for sure that Fortune'e is going to be a failure for Celtic because he's been injured for much of his time here. Granted the signs are not looking good so far, but until he has had a run in the team while fully fit we will not know for certain. For this reason both Mowbray and the supporters really need to give him a chance. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Shocking waste of money IMO. Why waste so much of our meagre funds an odd-ball link forward when we desperately need a qualtiy high scoring conventional striker. I think this again is because Mowbray has some preconcieved vision that Fortune is part of but he still needs to buy about 16 million pound more on other players to achieve.

he has nothing to his game bar hear-say.
he comes here as "not a prolific striker but has great link-up play and is a brilliant 2nd striker"
Truth is, he has nothing to his game at all. shocking waste of £4million. Anyone who can defend the signing of him and not wanted us to have signed someone like stevie fletcher instead, for less - has to be sectioned.

I agree mate. I reckon Fortune is a flop. Mowbray's flop.

    Senior career*
    Years -------------Team--------Apps------------Gls)
    1998–2002----- Angoulême ----63------------(18)
    2002–2003------Lille-------------16------------(0)
    2003-2004------Rouen (loan)---34------------(10)
    2004-2005------Stade Brest-----33------------(10)
    2005–2007------Utrecht---------53-------------(11)
    2007–2009------Nancy----------72-------------(12)
    2009-------------WBA (loan)----17-------------(4)
    2009--------------Celtic--------------------------(2)

288 Appearances 68 Goals (League) Overall in his career 299 appearances 75 goals

8 clubs lasting a season to a season and a half at most of them. The bhoy has not got it! His goal rate is an absolute disgrace for someone costing £3.8m mhate. 68 league goals and he is 28 years old???????? Disgraceful for a striker.

Also if he was that valuable a CREATOR for the teams he has been with would he not have stayed with them longer or would we not have faced stiffer opposition for his signature.

Remember that TM had set up a £1.5m deal to keep this guy at West Brom. That was his value but when TM moved we got held over a barrel when purchasing Fortune.

The truth is Mowbray will play Fortune as it's his main signing and it is very possible that he isn't as sharp in the transfer market as he thinks he is.. He has wasted our money!

In my eyes Fortune doesn't to go into the box and take his chances, he appears to be reluctant to get stuck in and challenge defenders when the ball is played to him. I'm sure that many people share my point of view towards Fortune, yes I've also seen the videos of his days with WBA when he plated under Mowbray, what I saw was a fast direct player who possessed plenty of speed and a willingness to go at defenders, I haven't seen the same from him in a Celtic shirt.

Personally I doubt whether even will ever win over the majority of the Celtic support unless he gets stuck in a little more, everybody can miss chances, but at least show a bit of effort.

he was signed as a striker, i don't buy this second striker or he does more than just score goals.

If he can't score why put him up front?? simple

I think he is a write off, the longer he underperforms the more his value decreases. i'd punt him at the earliest oppertunity for whatever we can get

Fortune could be a good link up striker, but he needs players coming from midfield to link up with. Which means the team keeping possession, passing the ball, getting it to Fortune's feet and running off him....With Brown out, McGeady and Samaras staying wide, there isnt really anyone to link up with...NGuemo,Robson and Crosas arent really going to be busting their hole to get up to support Fortune.

I didnt see the Dundee Utd game, but from the reports his touch was bad, any link up striker will need a good touch to hold the ball up I think.....

But we didnt have a centre forward to hold up the ball and link play in our squad so we did need someone like Fortune....

Only time will tell if he is actually good enough to do the job....but the signs havent been very promising so far

I think there is better than Fortune out there as a link up player...but Mowbray just saw an urgent need and went for someone he knew as scouting out the best player could be a long process...

btw I think Mowbray should have went after Bednar instead of Fortune, more of an all rounder and more skill. He could have done the link up job for a while and he is also a goalscorer, having done very well for Hearts in SPL previuosly. Not sure about the whole buying drugs thing though.

He has 2 jobs I think,

Bring the midfield into attacks more and score goals. I think I need a few more games to judge if he can cut it.

We need to play more as a team and have link up play from defence to midfield to attack.

At the moment our defence hoofs it, our midfield runs/dribbles and our strikers live off the scraps....We need a centre forward who can hold possession and play in midfielders if we are going to play a passing game.

Just like we need a midfielders who are "box to box"...i.e they can go back and demand the ball from defence to start a passing move and also go forward and support the attack...

Why is he only getting a handful of games to prove himself when there are players that have had seasons and we're still supposedly waiting for them to burst through?

He is a good player imo, he is just suffering from an absolutely chronic lack of confidence which isn't being helped by the fact the support have audible groans every time he touches the ball. It happened with Aiden throughout the start of his Celtic career, it happened with Agathe through his whole Celtic career and Fortune is the new whipping boy.
