"I think Celtic should buy players from in Scotland at every opportunity"

r u joking? the spl is *.we should avoid buying players from the spl at all cost..only the very rare exception(like agathe). the fact we've bought so many players from scotland is part of the reason as 2 why we are so * these days. what player have we bought from within the spl in the last 5 years has been a success? caldwell? brown?...strachan loved raiding the spl, and its why were *.

This is true. I can categorically remember me saying thst i would take him, but not for the price they ended up buying him for. If you spend that much money, it tends to be someone a bit more proven. If you look at it, he wasn't even proven in the French or Dutch leagues - tho he played RW.

unfortunately with the scrapping of the reserves league he has had no real chance to get any match sharpness back after injury, plus even though he has been here for 4 months he has been injured for most of the time, so he is still settling into the team.

if he had had a stinker like yesterday after playing for 4 months straight, I could understand alot more what the fuss was about.

As a support it is also our job to well support our bhoys, not boo and hiss and throw our toys out of the pram for every bad touch certain players have, because it is our job to build them up, not make them nervous about getting the ball.

Don't say I didn't try to warn you about Fortune. :86:

However, I am very surprised you're not romping the league.

Yeah coming to think of it McDonald was probably worse than Fortune yet it's all anti-Fortune threads/posts. Funny how people react..

I'm not a big fan of McDonald but he at least contributes goals. Fortune isnt contributing anything at all today, im willing to give him more time though because he isnt long back from injury and before his lay of he was showing signs of what he can offer.

I get your point that McDonald has proven to us he can get goals, but Fortune hasn't really had a chance to prove anything yet.

Say McDonald was a brand new signing and we watched him on Sunday - would we judge him as a waste of space and create all sorts of negative threads? Because he was every bit as bad as Fortune yet is a 20+goal a season striker.

I'm not in agreement with these anti-Fortune threads, im just stating that there are these threads because he isnt performing but I'd probably put money on the same people posting pro-Fortune threads once he scores a few. It's just the way it goes here.

I'll begin to judge Fortune a bit more once he's fit.

Looked more like shocking decision making and lack of skill than fitness issues yesterday mate.

He was fit at the start of the season and had 2 left feet even then.

Fit and confident then. He's playing like he did the first few games for us but like I said further up, he started to show what he is capable of so i'm willing to give him time.

Not really, one good game against a poor St.Johnstone side? Where his goals weren't crucial? Apart from that and a decent performance in Aberdeen he's been horrendous in every appearance.

I don't know what the opposite of rose tinted is but that's what you're doing :icon_mrgreen: Fortune played quite well and Celtic were attacking well in his first 4 games or so. Hardly horrendous!

Not really, he had a couple of good performances other than the goals against St Johnstone. He's getting in the positions to score, he just needs the confidence now to start converting these chances. The guy cant be expected to come back and be firing on all cylinders after a few games.

Fair point, but I very much doubt we'll see much of an improvement.

The writing is on the wall, he's a dud. We'd be better of sticking with Big Jan probably, and not having to pay almost 4m.

He's not worth £4m but it's early to be calling him a dud.

Well for me so far, he's a dud until he proves me otherwise.

actually, to be perfectly honest mate, im pretty sure its the other way around.

£3.8M in 2000 would be the equivilent of £10M today

For a Premiership club it would. Not for us with our finances now though, I mean in terms of our overall budget - we can't spend much and we've threw away 4m.
