What we need is a new LB to push our current LB.
Aston Villa wants us to pay them 1m + our only viable LB for a player we were practically blackmailed into selling for 600k a couple years ago and hasn't accomplished anything. Sorry, MON, but CLEARLY you DONT value Maloney at 4m.
Such a deal would mean that we'd almost have to spend another 2-4m on a proven LB. Meaning we'd be spending 3-5m to not solve our problem, and add a midfielder that * us over to the bench.

well tbh if us and the huns were in for him i would rather we had hi than them cos he is a good player and could cos our fb's loads of problems and i gen liked the wee man.

 

I would take him back as we know what hes capable of unlike the other 2 wingers we have waiting in the wings to replace naka & mcgeady

However, i dont think it is a done deal as celtic or villa would have released a statement by now i think a fee is still to be agreed but the deal will be completed

 

Totally agree I lost count how many times I was looking at the bench last season to see who we could bring on to make an impact on the game and unfortunatley it looked pretty grim. If Maloney, Mcgeady and Naka are rotating positions this would give me some hope if the game was not going to plan.

I reckon, that Celtic/Villa are playing hardball poker over the fee.

Hopefully, both will cancel each other out & it'll be a straight swop - we need a winger to really Compete for a start & Villa need a LB for the same.

Both players could do that for each respective club - so a deal amicable to both clubs really should not be far away.

I'd take Shaun back, I didn't want him to go in 1st place & felt at the time the board should've offered him more money. Compared to Gravesen he was *\bably being offered much less.

I like him & he'd push Aiden to play better, he'd also be able to advise that the holy grail of EPL is a poisoned chalise!!

If we did bring Maloney back and Naylor left, the only one tht cld play there Is O'Dea and i think hed be quite rusty unless he plays in alot of the friendlys

 

Maloney is worth more than 2m. Lets not cut off our noses to spite our faces here, he's worth 2m to us and he'll benefit our squad, lets just pay it.
