Good luck to the wee man in my opinion it doesnt harm Celtic as a team or squad, and with Hartley coming in chances are that the squad is stronger now.
I felt 20K was a good wage for him, all things considered, but at Celtic not Villa, so there you go, there you are you see! :84:

I can't say i care really, more glad the whole thing is over with as contract talks like this * me off....I can't say we have missed him in the team really and with him, McGeady and Riordan all fighting for the same place....Someone was bound for the exit door.

Be prepared to hear all the usual pish about "i wanted a crack at a better league and a new challenge" etc etc....I'll counter that argument Shaun with be prepared "fighting for a place in the reserves and winning * all".

Celtic will live on while Maloney will fade in to Premiership obscurity and all because of 2k?

Good luck son, your gonna sure as * need it!

    * I need to change my fave player AGAIN (was Sutty 12 mths ago)!!!!

Sean was excellent last season but it may have been just a purple patch some players get. I hope he does well down at Villa, cos ....... nah * him and them. I don't even think he will get many games and he is nowhere near EPL class (yet). Look at Stan who was a more developed player after his time at CP and he is struggling big time down there.

It is just p1ssing me off how very little loyalty there is in the game these days (after L***). Surely 2 or 3 decent seasons is a minimum before these young guys should move on (especially after we help them through career threatening injuries), if only to improve them as players and help their careers.

mon hardly gave him a look whilst he was manager here wgs did! and thats the thanks he gives greedy wee *!i hope he fails and ends up at the likes of partick thistle!! he can look back on the past wi simon donnelly.

In all seriousness it surely cannae be down to an extra two grand a week. If that's the only difference surely the higher bonuses he could earn at Celtic (winning a lot) compared to Villa (not winning a lot) would make any difference negligible. There's got to be more to it than just two grand a week eh ?

Bit harsh , but i intend to agree with the post ....After all the treatment we gave him , all the rehab for what ??? ......maybe we should have charged him for his treatment looking back ...He wont be a revalation at Villa ...Mid table side at the most , struggling to get in to europe year in year out :56: .....wheres your medal this year wee man ???

Don't need him, McGeady and Riordan are more than capable of maturing into better players at Celtic. Maloney, apart from last season has only shown glimpses of class, and like Liam Miller I think he'll struggle in the EPL and will eventually end up at a Championship side or lower.
I might be proved wrong, but can anyone name me a young player that has left Celtic and gone onto better things?
At best Maloney can hope for top ten finishes and a slim chance of UEFA cup football at Villa, it hardly beats winning medals and playing the cream of Europe in the CL, I might be wrong, but I've a sneaky feeling that Maloney, Petrov, Miller and others will regret leaving Celtic when they look at their careers in a couple of years.
I'm past being * off at gready footballers, it's a sad part of the modern game, players would rather earn a couple of extra grand a week than win medals.

is it a done deal yet ive found it hard 2 keep up with all the talks today cos of work, if so hes a greedy we * and i hope he fails misersbly at villa another liam miller we looked after him through his long injury spell out etc etc and this is how we are repayed i also think a lot has to be learnt on our part to stop this happening again and again we should get contracts tied up long in advance!!

But do you honestly believe it is just purely down to two grand ? It's not that much of a difference when you are in the realm of 20k per week.

He's a greedy wee * who's shown no loyalty to Celtic who stOOd by him when he was out injured for ages.

He'll go down the long line of failed Scots in England. Eoin Jess, Phil O'Donnell, Simon Donnelly, Liam Miller and so on...

Well it's not because MON gave him loads of games under him at CP!
I do believe it is purely down to money, it might not be 2 grand a week, remember that works out at an extra £ 100,000 a year, but it's certainly not because Villa are a bigger team, the lure of constant european football or because Birmingham is the St Tropez of England.
He will be playing in a better league, but Maloney like Miller might struggle with the transition into the EPL, again Stan hasn't exactly been on fire for Villa.
We could speculate about a lot of different reasons why Maloney has left, the most believeable is that he's geting more money.

I most certainly have no idea, but apparently through his agent and Maloney, Villa is where he is going.
I will say this after watching Villa get beaten 3-1 by Newcastle, Maloney WILL do better than Petrov is at Villa, wouldnt be hard! :86:

I agree and I accept that 100k a year is 300k over a 3 year contract. I just find it a strange one. As you describe above there are plenty of things to tell him it's not a good move so IMO the wage difference has to be greater for him to sacrifice all that comes with being at Celtic. Maybe he genuinely is a *, I don't know. I like him as a player though. Good feet, skillful, nice wee passes, can score a goal.
