We’ve had a few players like that recently. I feel like being split between two countries automatically makes you a baller.

Frimpong - raised in England but plays for Netherlands

CCV - England, but also USA

O’Riley - England, but also Denmark

McCarthy - Castlemilk, but also Ireland

Like the look of Nawrocki. I felt he done well when he come on against the huns and he was solid again last night. I like that he wants to play forward when he is on the ball. It was his pass they got the move started for Kyogo’s goal against the huns.

Every game he’s played it’s been his passing that’s caught the eye for me. It’s fast, crisp and always advancing the play.

How often have we seen boring passing between the two CB’s killing the pace of the game, not just this season in Rodgers previous spell as well.

Nawrocki and Scales were driving the game forward yesterday. Same as against the Huns, as was Welsh and Scales.

Still getting upto speed but be seems to defend well and his use of the ball is generally good.

I like him. Liked him before his injury tbh he did little wrong. Hopefully gets a yard or two of pace back.

The break we have now and the minutes he got in the last 2 games should hopefully have him fully match fit when we come back.

Thought he did ok in the cup game unlike Scales, would benefit with a run of games against decent SPL teams that have a go like Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts.

Hard to judge on yesterdays game but I though he looked good for what he did have to do as little as that was.

Maik Nawrocki has experienced a few highs and lows so far in his Celtic career as he has battled back from injury and fought his way into the starting XI again.

Signing in the summer from Legia Warsaw, the central defender started the season in top form, but an injury in the second league game away to Aberdeen curtailed his progress and forced him to miss the majority of the opening half of the campaign.

However, that all changed when he was thrust into action midway through the first-half in December’s victory in the Glasgow derby, and since that moment the Poland Under-21 internationalist has been an ever-present in defence and has impressed with every outing.

Looking back on his time so far in the Hoops, Nawrocki believes his appearance off the bench in the derby will be a defining moment in his career, and he’s positive he can continue his momentum in this second part of the season.

Speaking to Celtic TV, he said: “It was hard to play a few games and then get injured and have a long break where I didn’t play.

“I knew the chance would come to play and I’m really happy that I was prepared for the moment. The most important thing was to work hard in training to be fit.

“Mentally, you have to be prepared as well and I think I did well and I was prepared for the moment.”

Talking about the 2-1 derby win, he said: “In the first moment, it was strange because I hadn’t played in a number of months.

“To come in for that game in Celtic Park and against Rangers, which is one of the biggest games in the world, the first 10 minutes I had to get into it and I felt I did after half-time.

'When I look back I think it’s a very big moment in my career.'

“In the moment it was about getting into it and focusing on the game and I didn’t think too much about it.”

Speaking at an event today at Hampden Park, Nawrocki admitted that it was his first visit to the National Stadium, a venue he hopes he is back at for the Scottish Cup semi-final and final later in the season.

Having played his part in Sunday’s 5-0 win over Buckie Thistle as the Hoops kicked off the defence of the trophy, the 22-year-old was pleased to get back into action following the winter break and he was delighted with the team’s performance.

After enjoying some time with family over the shutdown, Nawrocki is excited for what’s to come in the next four months as he hopes to finish the season with silverware.

He added: “It was good for the team to get the rhythm again.

'I think we did very well and we respected the other team and had a good result in the end.'

“We had seven days off and I went home to get my mind fresh and my body also. Now we have had some time to work as a team.

“I’m settling in nice. The city is very good and I live in the West End which is a very nice place and the people are so nice everywhere.

“I’m now looking forward to this time because as a team we have worked hard and we have the league and cup games to play for and I’m looking forward to playing, with the target to be here at Hampden.”

He was my MOTM start of the season away at Pittodrie.

Think it's clear he has potential.

He's been pretty solid every time I've saw him.

Don't really understand the negativity. Think it's mainly Clyde 1 pundits like Hugh Keevins who spoke as though he was out the door this window.

I like the look of Nawrocki, happy to see him get a run of games. We've had about 10 guys play CB with Scales this season. A bit of continuity would be nice for a change.

Maik Nawrocki’s came in and did well. Does this give you big decisions to make at the back with central defenders?

Maik’s done very well. Scales has been outstanding since he came into the team and developed and been our most consistent performer, with one or two others who have constantly been in the team. At centre half, we’ve had injuries based around Cam and Maik and Welshy, so that’s made it difficult sometimes to have that partnership there. Having Cam back, he’s a fantastic player, but it’s great to see Maik come to the fore, and it’s exactly what we thought when we were bringing him in at the beginning. He was in to challenge Cam and Carl Starfelt, that was the plan. Sadly, he was injured for a long period, but he’s coming back and he’s shown in the games that he going to be there to compete. That’s what having a top squad is about, it’s not about just having starters, you want players who are there to compete with the starters.

If I had the effort I’d put all his comments talking about Nawrocki and Lagerbielke together because there’s no common narrative about either, mind he slaughtered how they were training and not working hard? Then Lager scored a CL winner and had an impressive 15 mins or so, Calmac and Welsh in interviews praised them training and working hard, professionalism, went out there way to say it both almost exact same description. Like it felt like they were making a point for me, then Rodgers said the same thing afterwards

It’s two very bizarre starts to a Celtic career I’ve ever seen, because between the 2 it was about £8m spent. Common thought is Phillips last game he played because a clause in the loan, Liverpool have done that a lot but it’s usually play regardless, not played as 4th choice. BR trusted him more, and I don’t rate Lager but he’s better than Phillips, and Nawrocki looks * good. It’s been bizarre.

GT’s injury now though, he’ll play next to CCV Scales at LB, Scales shouldn’t make way for anycunt right now he’s outperformed even CCV at CB this year. But it’s an easy option and tests what looks like what was supposed to be first choice in CCV and Nawrocki

Done ok in the 1st half, but was really poor in the second. Kept backing off and could have got a second yellow.
