It all started on Twitter and now STV and the Daily Mail have published it on their news sites.

Truly hope there is some truth and hope in the Madeline McCann stuff but can not see it.

DNA test apparently being carried out at the minute. Would be devastating for her parents if they find out it's not her. Fingers crossed!:shamrock:

A possible sighting of Madeleine McCann in India has been played down by her family

Madeleine McCann's family has played down a possible sighting of the missing child in India.
Local police are said to be investigating after a British woman spotted a six-year-old girl who appeared to resemble Madeleine in a market in the city of Leh in northern India on Friday night.
A French woman and a Belgian man who were with the girl insisted they were her biological parents but police took their passports to check, the Chandigarh Tribune newspaper reported.
It is understood that the private detectives hired by Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, to continue looking for their daughter are not currently planning to travel to India but will liaise with local police.
McCann family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: "The private investigators currently searching for Madeleine have been aware of this report from India for several days, and have been working to establish its veracity.
"So far unfortunately there is nothing to suggest that this sighting is any more credible than any of the many others we have had over the last four-plus years."
Madeleine was nearly four when she went missing from her family's holiday flat in Praia da Luz in the Algarve on May 3 2007 as her parents dined with friends nearby.
Portuguese detectives, helped by officers from Leicestershire Police, carried out a massive investigation into her disappearance.
But the official inquiry was formally shelved in July 2008 and since then no police force has been actively looking for the missing child, who would now be eight.
Scotland Yard launched a review of the original investigation in May after a request from Home Secretary Theresa May supported by Prime Minister David Cameron. Hundreds of possible sightings of the little girl around the world have been reported since she went missing, but so far they have all come to nothing.

If the tests are taken already should find out in 24 hours if it's really her or not.
Hope it is true though. Tragic what happened.

Must be more serious than a usual sighting if they're doing a DNA test, sad to say that I think she's long gone though :54:

I've always been surprised that the McCann's remaining children were never taken from them by the SS.

I'm sure if a couple on the dole or minimum wage left their kids alone in a foreign hotel, while they went on the * & one of them went missing...the SS would take the other kids into care & prosecute the parents.

If the parents hadn't been an attractive middle class family, we'd never have heard of this case.

I daren't think what's happened to the girl though! Considering what else is possible, it might be better if she is dead.

I blame the parents. Who leaves 3 kids alone especially in a foreign country, there was childcare facilities, really no excuse. They made loads of money, it ran out so they brought the case back up. It hadn't been mentioned for a while. As for it being in the media, thats what they wanted. It could have been kept on the low. I know for certain with conversations i've had about this in the past, the majority of people wouldnt have just sat back and took it like they did.
