Lustig or Matthews?

Lustig just edges it for me , I think Matthews hasn't got over his shoulder injury , so I put Lustig slightly ahead. I hope he returns to the level he was at before he went for his double operation . My worry for Matthews is that that I think players with his type of injury often take a long time to overcome mentally. Thankfully I think Matthews has started to look a wee bit like his old self in the last couple of games .
The thing about Lustig is that he can often time his forward run so well that he can get his cross in unchallenged .

 

Lustig the more consistent performer. Current injury not a factor in my humble opinion. One if the few in the squad who look genuinely at home in champion is league company.

 

Lustig by far imo. And i never judge players by their nationality (Lustig - Swedish)

 

Lustig for me and play Matthews at right midfield

 

2 Champions League quality players for me. Lustig shades it though

Lustig is a lot calmer on the ball, more consistent performer and doesn't lose his concentration which unfortunately Matthews sometimes does. Matthews has a tendency to be on his heels at times and less awareness on the pitch though he uses his pace well and is better in the attacking side of things than Lustig, not saying Lustig is bad at attacking just that Matthews outpaces most fullbacks. But most of all Lustig is a very commanding player and a player you can always rely on, so definitely the big sexy Swede!

Lustig for me aswel, his performances before he went for his op were world class imo. Matthews will learn a lot from him (and Danny) so he may well go on to be as good or better.

The poll was 18 months ago. Matthews was the better player then.

There isn't a lot between them when both are on form though.

Lustig certainly isn't "in a different league" to Matthews, put it that way.

 

I was really liking it when BOTH were playing.... * rb. Matthews rm. Both good going forward, Matthews slightly better, and both good defensively, * being better there. Complimented each other well I thought.

 

Matthews and Forrest for RM. Lustig and Fisher for RB.

 

Lustig is far better in my opinion, I think Matthews is hugely overrated going forward as I think he is actually quite poor going forward.

Lustig is terrific defensively, good in the air, hard-working, passionate and a leader. Matthews will only improve though.
