Technically sound good player just concerned about Iwata out and him in.

How can you go from in a recruitment sense, go from Bogusz who is clearly looking to replace some of the MO numbers at 8-10m to McGowan who is neat and tidy at 1m?

There is no defensively aware midfielder to play as a 6 if McGregor is out at all.

This is just the board signing an emergency midfielder that they knew had been talked about in the press as a priority because they won’t pay the last minute prices.

On the face of it no but I think Engels is more defensive than some are immediately thinking.

Seen a lot of reports suggesting his best position is as a 6. The fact he's played RB a fair few times alao suggests that defensively he is very sound.

From what I've read Engels should be capable and I've always thought McCowan looks like McGregor-Lite.

Really curious on how he'll get on. But for £1m I won't lose my mind if he only will be a squad player.

Im happier with him than the other signings today as i've watched him and thought he looks far too good for Dundee and then watch him more and see him doing more and more and thinking is this guy superb and going under the radar as he should never be playing with them.

Be interesting to see how he does here, he needs a good half hour against the huns. Be good for him to come on and add a bit of class to pumping them during his debut to set him up well.

Bernardo will play there if McGregor is out I think, Bernardo is really good defensively and similar to O'Riley who played there in place of McGregor albeit under Ange but done fine.

I wouldn't have a problem with Bernardo playing as the 6 as now we have McCowan meaning even if Hatate or Engels were injured along with McGregor, McCowan fits in and still has the creativity and skill to do the business further forward also.

From everything I’ve seen and understand he is needing to focus on and nail down that number 8 if he wants to develop to his clear potential.

All well and good being versatile but at 20 you should for me be looking to specialise your best role.

I am so happy with his signing, just no need to not have him in the building early doors and even save on his fee.

Hope folk don’t get after him for lack of numbers if they don’t come quick too because that isn’t his what he has been used to and also what he wouldn’t be judged on if Bogusz was in too.

Don’t hate the idea but it’s more the whole premise of Iwata out and a number 8 in to replace him.

If we are to make any progress in Europe, McGregor shouldn't be playing as the 6.

I keep hearing this but I just can't agree. McGregor is a good 6. He wins the ball back fair bit, covers really well and is comfortable on the half turn. He's our main man.

He's fine domestically, obviously that's our bread and butter.. doesn't offer nearly enough protection for the defense against better sides.

I personally think that's a team structure thing though than a McGregor thing. Plenty agree with you though.

I am slightly concerned about goals and assists we'll lose in O'Riley's absence.

I have a sneaky feeling Hatate will step up in that regard though. There's no reason he can't get 15 goals this year if he's played a bit further forward.

I think McCowan will contribute too.
