Dont really care about a loss. Can't win them all. We are still massively up overall.

If he's gone means we must be certain with signing another winger this window. So that's good news.

Rodgers will have Luis Palma back in the squad for Dens after the death of his grandfather. But the winger could be heading for the exit this month

spoke to Luis just the other day, and he's a great guy. Everyone loves him here.

He's a brilliant lad, works hard every day, trains every day, and probably not getting the game time of what he would like.

And if that allows some players to go out, then that can and may still happen. But at this moment in time, he's here and a part of the squad. He’s back now. It was just something that happened overnight

I sensed with him the feeling to sit on a coach three and a half hours, going up north, probably wasn't going to be the best thing for him. So I just gave him the weekend, be with his family, and then reset again after the weekend.

So he's come back in, and it's a hard time for him, losing both grandparents so close. But he's ready to go again, and we'll be part of the squad tomorrow

May well be the last time we see Palma in a Celtic top if he comes on tomorrow. I am surprised though at the agreed price with Rayo if its accurate at 2.5m euro. Palma is a good player who has had his moments at Celtic so I would have thought we would have been holding out for at least break even numbers based on what we paid for him. But I guess maybe if you include the loan fee Rayo would be paying us then maybe that is the case.

Celtic winger Luis Palma's transfer to Rayo Vallecano has been thrown into doubt after FIFA stepped in to impose a three-window transfer ban on the Spaniards.

Both Rayo Vallecano and RCD Mallorca have fallen foul of football's governing body and the La Liga duo will not be able to sign players for the next three transfer windows.

The respective bans came into force on January 9th with both clubs expressing their surprise at the news. According to Spanish sports media outlet Diez, a Rayo Vallecano club spokesperson said: “This is the first information we have” as they attended a General Shareholders meeting on Monday,

In recent days, another Spanish sports media outlet Estadio Deportivo had reported that Rayo Vallecano were close to formalizing the signing of Palma from Celtic for 2.5 million euros, but it appears that particular transfer has now fallen through due to an unexpected twist in the tale

The Honduran winger who joined Celtic in the summer from Aris Thessaloniki in a £3.5 million deal in the summer of 2023 was due to fly to Madrid next week to officially complete the deal.

Speaking as he previewed the Dundee game on Tuesday afternoon, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said: "Luis is a player that I spoke to just the other day, and he's a great guy. Everyone loves him here. We love him. He's a brilliant lad, works hard every day, trains every day, and probably not getting the game time that he would like. We have to weigh everything up.

"Our first job is to look after our own squad, make sure that's ready, and by the end of this month set up for the challenges for the rest of the season.

"If that allows some players to go out, then that can and may still happen. At this moment in time, he is here and a part of the squad."

Palma has made 47 appearances for the Scottish champions scoring 10 goals and is still expected to leave the club in the January transfer window

    Rayo Vallecano
have withdrawn their approach for Celtic winger Luis Palma after being struck with a transfer ban.

It’s understood, despite reports in Spain, a deal was not close with Celtic reluctant to let Palma go at this stage of the window.

Vallecano were keen on a loan deal for the Honduras international and had opened talks with Celtic.

But the La Liga club have now been banned from making transfers for the next three windows due to outstanding debt.

A spokesperson for FIFA told Sky Sports News: “FIFA confirms that Ray Vallecano is currently prevented from registering new players in connection with the payment of an outstanding debt. The ban will be lifted once the payment has been confirmed by the creditor concerned.”

Celtic currently have winger James Forrest out injured for a month and are light in that department.

They are in the market for a winger in this window, but cannot register new signings for the Champions League league phase.

Palma has been attracting interest from clubs across Europe, including Genoa and Olympiacos.

See Rayo V don’t have a transfer ban now according to reports, although it sounds like nonsense we were close to a deal.

I think Palma will be kept as a CL registered player until those games are played. We seen Kuhn and Maeda miss the weekend, if either had a knock just before the CL games Palma will be first sub at worst.

I also never thought a loan with such a low option made sense.

Until we have another winger in I doubt he's away.

We can't register any new players for the CL so I don't think he will away anywhere until after those games

Come on you Bhoys in Green
We forget he was our bright spark in our Christmas Run in last year when we were struggling. He has 2 Champions League goals not including the off side one against Lazio. I think some fans treatment of him is a tad harsh he's a young guy coming from abroad we can't forget that. And for the 2.1 million price tag is a complete joke we should be looking to make a profit on him as he's not a complete flop.

Agree but he’s just not been on it this year. He was electric when he first came in which makes it even weirder that his creativity has just disappeared. Can’t take on a man now and his passing hasn’t been as consistent as what we’ve seen he can do

He wasn't a bright spark he was terrible during that run at Christmas. Bringing Benardo into the team is what stabilised us.

He got 4 assists and a goal last December, not as * as you make out. He got 10 goals and 10 assists last season and I think he gets it harsh from lots of fans.

LUIS PALMA could end up joining Rayo Vallecano after all this month.

We told you earlier this week how the Celtic star's move to Spain had been scuppered after the club had been slapped with a shock three-window transfer ban by Fifa

But the winger's switch to La Liga is BACK ON as the ban has now been revoked after the Madrid side solved a "misunderstanding" with football's governing body.

Rayo were originally handed the ban over a £85,000 unpaid debt.

However, this was sorted after just 24 hours and they are now allowed to sign players with immediate effect.

It opens the door for Palma, 24, to complete his move to Spain if the La Liga outfit go through with the deal.

The £3.5million Honduran ace is expected to leave Parkhead after making 11 appearances this season.

It was believed Rayo were eyeing an ambitious loan swoop for the wide-man with an option to buy to make the move permanent next summer.

The club's manager Inigo Perez was quizzed on the rumours surrounding Palma yesterday after he was given permission to sign players this window again.

He refused to get sucked into the transfer talk but revealed he is aware of the player

He said: "I have heard the rumour, but the reality is that no one from the club has told me anything about this player, so I cannot say much more than that

" I know him, I know how he plays, I know his virtues, but really, and the truth is that today, I am not lying to you, no one has made any comments to me about him

Addressing Palma's future this week, Brendan Rodgers said: “I spoke to Luis just the other day, he's a great guy and everyone loves him here.

“He's a brilliant lad, works hard every day, trains every day but is probably not getting the game time he would like.

We have to weigh everything up.

“Our first job is to look after our own squad, make sure that's ready, and by the end of this month, set up for the challenges for the rest of the season.

“And if that allows some players to go out, then that can and may still happen.

“But at this moment in time, he's here and a part of the squad

He’s just lost both his grandparents so it’s a sad time for him.

“I gave him the weekend to be with his family and then reset again after the weekend.

“But he's ready to go again and will be part of the squad."
