For the sake of another 2-3 million we should try and snag him. If he keeps progressing he’ll be sold for double it or more in a few years.

Depends on the buy back fee. Could be around 15 million. Not sure how that would work.

If it’s £15m and above buy back and the fee being reported £6m odd, then it’s worth it. Guaranteed doubling and more profit, if he performs how we’d expect. Reports of £7m for the guy in Scandinavian league who’s a LW and Barry mainly having played on the left on loan, I think he’s the main target and Barry is us hedging our bets

Aston Villa plan to loan Louie Barry out to a higher level before testing him in the first-team and are unlikely to let him leave on a permanent deal.

Mick Brown, who worked as a senior scout at Villa Park and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that it would take a “huge” fee for the club to let the 21-year-old leave for good before the window closes.

This comes after Football Insider revealed that Celtic are unlikely to meet Aston Villa’s asking price after seeing a £10million bid rejected earlier this month.

Unai Emery’s side opted to recall the forward from his loan spell at Stockport at the start of the month, and will now look to loan him out to a higher level.

Barry scored 16 goals and provided three assists in 23 games for the League One outfit, and there is now a feeling that he is ready for the step up to Championship football.

Middlesbrough, Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday have all been heavily linked with the forward, but Villa are still weighing up which move would best suit their academy product.

Brown explained that an impactful loan spell with a top Championship outfit would pave the way for him to come into the first-team at Villa Park, but he is not yet ready for that step up.

Barry remains very highly-rated by Emery after a turbulent start to his career, having left West Brom for Barcelona in 2019 before returning to England with Villa six months later

However, he has finally found his stride in the English game and Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted it won’t be long until he makes his mark for Villa.

He’s done very well at Stockport,” he told Football Insider.

“Now they’re looking at a higher level, with the likes of Leeds or Middlesbrough looking at him.

“I understand they now want to see how well he performs at that level, and then they’ll make the same judgement again about his quality.

So if they let him go on loan again now, they’ve got from now until the end of the season to assess him and decide whether he could come into their team.

“By the end of the season they’ll have made a strong judgement about that.

“He’s very highly rated by Villa, I think they see him as a part of their first-team plans eventually.

I wouldn’t expect him to leave permanently unless there’s a huge offer for him

They want to see how he performs in the Championship, and then he can step up and become part of Emery’s team in the future.”

Celtic have held initial talks over a possible deal for winger Louie Barry - but Aston Villa remain reluctant to sell the player and have offered him a new contract.

Villa prefer to keep Barry and loan him out for his development - and he has interest from most of the Championship and several clubs abroad.

Barry was recalled from his loan at Stockport County earlier this month, for Unai Emery to take a closer look and assess his readiness for first-team football.

Don't want him as a striker. Too small and diminutive, definitely looks like a winger.

Aye, kyogo isn't a giant but world class movement helped him a lot. Kvistgaarden not a giant wither but looks stocky and good in the air.

We might try for a long term loan..

So was Kyogo before we signed him as well tbf.

Barry started a striker, this year on loan he’s mostly played on the left but he’s had 5 up front, scored 4, he’s had 4 at AM scored 3. 13 at LW with 8 and 3 assists.

I’ve not watched him so judging off stats, but the stats look like any attacking position and he can do it. Kyogo the year before signing him was mainly him LW, and the only place I’ve seen him for us I didn’t rate him was LW. CF, he was insane, AM brief appearances there I remembered how good he is with the ball. RW he looked back to his best.

Rambling point I’m trying to say here but it boils down to, as long as we’ve properly scouted a player and know how we want to use him, am not too concerned about * he’s done previous.

Slight hypocrisy saying that because judging off his previous, a big thing I can see from him through looking at just the stats is end product. I’d be delighted if we got him. But I can’t say I’ve ever seen him at all; never mind enough to judge him through my own two eyes

I think what we have in our favour might not work with barrie. Villa seem very keen to keep him and looks like he already has his doorway open to EPL football at a very good club.
I'd be delighted if we sign the lad but going to be tougu

Either buy him or move on. We need someone in and settled for CL qualification next season.

You know what. The reports of us in for someone at £15 mil who’s at a champions league club…surely this is Barry? Although not sure where he fits in with our current squad unless Rodgers sees him as a striker?

It was a report on twitter, Fitbaw Gospel I think it was, that said we were eyeing up a £15m deal for a player who was playing for a Champions League club.

I took the report to mean we were targeting someone who had played in the Champions League this season but I never saw the tweet.
