The most recent trailer is by far the best one so far. Looks a bit darker and more mature.

Still going in with pretty low expectations though.

Very interested to read this. I'd always been a bit uncomfortable with the notion that everything good in LOTR was white and everything bad was black.

Seems that wasn't the unconscious racism I thought it was.

Not sure what to think of this so far. Feels like i'm watching Skyrim if it was a tv show.

I liked some of it, and hated some of it. There was quite a bit of cringe in the dialogue at times and the elves were annoyingly pompous.

Willing to give it a chance but it didn’t capture the magic of watching TFOTR. Tough act to follow.

Also a big negative is the soundtrack. It added so much to the trilogy

Been OK 2nd episode too. The actor playing elrond was the young ned stark in game of thrones

Have Tolkien estate to blame for that they didn’t want Jackson anywhere near it fair enough they were fine with shore for music but didn’t want it to be a continuation of the trilogies but were happy for it to be filmed in New Zealand it comes across as if they didn’t mind the style of the movies just dont like Jackson very much because the styles and backdrops are very similar to the movies

That bit of dialogue at the start of the 1st episode about why a stone sinks and not a paper boat :s:

First episode was decent. Started losing concentration during it if I’m honest. Thought it had a very good start then started to drift.

All the stuff with Lenny Henry and his crew did nothing for me.

Not watched it yet, but the thing that worries me going into this is the amount of stuff they're going to have to make up from scratch. Although it's based in Tolkien's world, outside of big events that happen in this time period there's not really much written in the way of fleshed out characters or narratives. Hopefully they can pull it off, I just have bad memories of the writing in game of thrones falling off a cliff after series 4/5 when they ran out of book material to copy from, and the hobbit films being mostly awful, so trying to keep my expectations as low as possible.

Having watched the first episode it was much better than I expected after seeing the all the criticism its been getting online. Dodgy Irish accents aside I thought the dialogue was fitted the world just fine.
    Early days but I'm intrigued.

It’s been okay so far. Dragging it’s heels a bit.

Very few characters I actually care about at this point. Elendil is probably my favourite and he’s just shown up.

Really enjoying it! These HUGE series always take time at the beginning to introduce characters and scenarios, but it's setting up Nicely.
Just wish I had waited until all the Episodes are out, Hate waiting the week for the next episode.

Bingo, Game of thrones was a pretty slow burner but it all pays dividends if the stories good. Just hope that it continues to pick up the pace and sets up a big finale for S1. Enjoying it so far though
