It's not easy to be fair and in effect you have to shut down the entire nation's blackberry's to enforce it.

I read yesterday that the govt had enlisted GCHQ to try to nail down the sources regarding who was organizing what and where. I'm not sure as to the legality of that but the old saying that desperate times breed desperate measures rings true.

For RIM to hand over information on certain people relies on the authorities (govt) actually handing over names and addresses of people first. I'm not even sure they're anywhere near that stage at present and if indeed they ever will be.

Although it is extremely admiral that communities are standing together to protect themselves from thugs and looters, why should they put themselves at risk, should law abiding citizens not expect protection?

If it's true that 3 young men were killed out protecting their community then it's an absolute disgrace that people appear to be more concerned with the looters and thugs than the innocents.

If those three men died because they were out protecting their community then it is a sad indictment of those who expect the community to risk their life just to protect their livelihoods while being totally against the police using crowd dispersal techniques to get the thugs of the street. Where making sure the thugs and theives are "understood" is more important than protecting hard working innocent people.

No, they advocated removal of the ruling class, the monarchy etc....not the looting and destroying of your run of the mill citizen's possessions and businesses.

Three men have been run over and killed as they protected property in a second night of violence in Birmingham.

The men aged 31, 30 and 20 were hit by a car in Winson Green. They were taken to City Hospital where about 200 people from the Asian community gathered.

:54::shamrock:RIP Thoughts and prayers to the familes of the victims :54:Killed for being brave enough to stand up to scum.

    Got a link to that?

If true it makes a complete mockery of Cameron's claim that all those guilty would face the full force of the law, but to be honest I'm not shocked....I really didn't expect anything less from the UK justice system.

I'm actually surprised he didn't sue for damages for cutting his finger on broken glass as he was looting the place!

When I look at these riots I see
people with little educational and job
    prospects, who cannot meet today's
    ultimate value of wealth, through
    legitimate means and out of
    frustration are pursuing this value
    illegitimately. Lacking knowledge of
    their exploitation and true place
    within a capitalist system, these
    materialist values are intensified
with designer goods as a display of
    their material wealth and an
    attempt to appear wealthier. This
has been seen in studies where
    working class/ underclass families
    have sacrificed household essentials
so their children can look 'good' in
branded clothes and not be teased
for having a low income. It is a pity
that these people have not been
    granted the language and concepts
    to express themselves and their
situation in a more peaceful and
    meaningfulway.These riots are
therefore a display of the inequality
that exists within our society, first
provoked by a inequality of police
    treatment throughout society. I do
not aprove of the violence but the
only way to stop these is a more
    equal society
