    We should be aiming to be as good as them though, so if a player wont start for benfica, he shouldnt be a star for us.

    That right, in Portugal they like to work with buy out clauses, they usualy are to scare other clubs off. Fc Porto have a ₤ 85m buy out clause for Hulk and I think Sporting have a ₤ 20m buy out clause for Van Wolfswinkel. They are not worth that it's just like a hands off warning.

    Yeah you are correct just like La Liga all players have a buy out clause in contract i am sure its a written rule within the leagues.

    he just turned 21 and they have 2 world class strikers up front, he isnt starting not because he is * but because there is just no where to play him, they obviously think highly of him though so I say if we can pull this off it would be great, maybe he would like it here and want to stay, it would at least show that the board have some ambition

    We didnt get knocked out by any Swiss team :97:
    We finished 3rd in a tough group.
    Benifca beat a Zenit team that is missing Danny, we would be able to do that on our day.

    How does it show ambition loaning a player from a club of an equal size to us. We should be aiming to be as good as them, not taking there leftovers.

    If Benfica value him at 20 million - or indeed anything over 4 million - it wouldn't make any difference whether he wanted to stay or not.

    Don't see the point in loaning anyone we don't have an option to buy.

    It actually does show ambition to try and bring in quality players no matter where you get them from, and we are not on the same level of benfica we are several levels below them, again they are playing in the quarter finals of the champions league, we are not as good as them yet and it will be quite a long time before we are. And you must not know much about football because its quite obvious that this kid is not a leftover he is one of their highly rated young prospects and I woul bet he is better than any striker we have now

    We lost on the pitch because they cheated. We then progressed. End of story.
    They drew twice with united, hardly domination.
    Both the united team of and Villareal team of 08/09 are better than the Zenit team without Danny.
    We wherent poor. We would have progressed only for a freak OG and a debatable peno.

    Have you watched him? Or is he a quality player because he plays for the massive Benfica?
    We may not be this season on the same level as Benfica but we should aiming to be. And loaning their leftovers isnt going to get us there. He is a leftover atm if he isnt good enough to get games there.

    I agree with this, don't loan him if we have no chance of buying him. Unless he is quality enough that he is going to do damage for us in the Champions League.

    If not and I doubt he is then he can get to *.

    It will take years to get to that level with our money, and do a little research he is hardly a leftover I guess when david beckham was just a leftover originally because he was loaned out to preston, Man U must have had no confidence in him if he was sent out on loan :87:
