Fair enough, I get where you are coming from. IMO, the whole number 7 thing is merely a marketing ploy these days.

I'm not overly excited by this signing. He is a shadow of the player that was at arsenal like FIVE years ago. And like all signings that were a big name but is now past is he gets the number 7 jersey. he has barely played football in 3 years and people expect him to jump into the deep end at ibrox and save us.not going to happen . IMO he will will be rarely used. for example robert pires at villa has played much more football that freddie since leaving arsenal and he is getting used every now and then or coming on as a sub.

I think we should use him like that. all of our players seem to get tired around the 70th minute and we get over-run and have lost a good few points this season in the last 20 mins, his experience will be very useful then.

 

Not so optimistic about this, his best days have gone.

 

i've been supporting Celtic for over 30 years and i seen a lot worse players than freddie wearing 7.give him a chance to earn his number.i think if he's fit he mite just have that difference between us and them on sunday

Yeah he's number 7, he says he is fit enough to play on Sunday, he says he had to turn down the other clubs (didn't say who) because you can't turn down a club like Celtic. He said he moved here because the American fans didn't show as much passion for football so he came to Celtic for the passionate fanbase.

I just hope we don't expect too much from a 33 year old who hasn't played a competitive match in over 8 weeks. At least we can expect him to lift the other players around him and if he can do the biz as well we could have a good day on Sunday. I sincerely hope so.

 

We have been crying out for experience. Freddie is as experienced as they come.
